Photos and Description of the Greenwood vacation house rental 4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8 (Maximum 4 adults)

If you want to stay in a breathtakingly beautiful place in New York's Southern Tier come stay here. We have 70 acres on a hilltop, down gravel roads in one of the most beautiful parts of the East. You cannot see another house from the property - just lovely views into the valley and across onto other hilltops. The quiet is a presence that you can feel and gives you a deep sense of relaxation. The seventy acres is a combination of woods, hay fields, yard, and meadows with a spring fed pond that is wonderful to sit by and offers fantastic views across the valley. There is a dock for swimming, fish/aquatic fowl to watch, and a mini-wetlands at one end with cattails and lilies. You frequently see groundhogs, deer, hawks, and occasionally, hear coyotes in the distance.

Well what do you want to do? The farm itself offers wonderful relaxation if you just want to read, relax, write, and talk. Walking around the property or venturing further along the dirt roads gives plenty of exercise and scenic views of farms, nature, and neighbors (it takes some walking to reach them). It is a great place for bike riding with your choice of flat or steep and there are plenty of spots for canoeing in the region. Within 10 miles the Amish have developed a thriving community and you have an opportunity to visit 6 wood shops to buy furniture, numerous sawmills (if you do your own projects), a quilt maker, a cheese dairy, or to shop in one of their farm stores and buy handmade home accessories and baked goods among other things.

The farm house is from the 1870s with two living rooms, tile kitchen with a combination gas/wood stove, rear facing entry room with picture window for wildlife observation, enclosed front sunroom, bath, and 4 bedrooms on the second floor. It has a southern exposure for great light, plenty of tall windows to catch the breezes, and the cool hill top to keep you comfortable all through the summer. At night the stars are glorious and you rarely see a man made light.

Other Activities: Snowshoeing

Peacefull Retreat

S. Hoffman Savannah, georgia
Review Submitted: December 19, 2007 Date of Stay: September 2007
We loved this house and property. The house has everything you could want or need. It's filled w/books, games, kites, snow toys and fishing equipment. Lots of little extras I didnt expect. The views are stunning. We saw lots of wildlife. If you want to slow down, enjoy nature, get back to peace and quite---this is the place. The pond has lots of fish in it. There are miles and miles of awesome places to walk. The kitchen is stocked w/lots of spices and many other extras. The house itself is very comfortable. The bedrooms are simple w/nice bedding and good matresses. Our small dog thought she had died and gone to heaven! It was such a pleasure to be able to take her w/us and watch her get to run free. We highly recommend it.

Peaceful spot in the hills

Cuinneagain St. Cloud, MN
Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My family enjoyed our two-week stay. The house is situated in the hills with a lovely view. The bedrooms are very nice and the beds are very comfortable. The pond is very nice for floating. You can see lots of wildlife - deer, fox, turkey, nice birds. The owner and caretakers are nice people who wish to make your stay as refreshing as possible. You can get to the Finger Lakes region pretty easily (Corning, Seneca Lake and such are all within a 2 hour drive). The local towns (Hornell, Wellsville, Andover) have a very tired feel to them, so if you are looking for local entertainment, you'd have to travel farther than a 20 mile radius. This property is best enjoyed as a retreat away from it all. Bring some books and settle in.

Peace and Quiet

dogmom Columbus, Ohio
Review Submitted: October 21, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
When was the last time you were outside and heard no noise except the ones created by birds? Or the last time you looked at the night sky and were in awe at the number of stars you could see without city lights interfering? This property is absolutely gorgeous. Even my husband enjoyed being out in the country--he spent most of his days at the pond--fishing. And the dogs! Well, they were in heaven. It was a relaxing vacation and the drive to get to town was lovely so we didn't mind the miles. (I recommend doing your driving in the daytime, though. It does get dark out in the country!) You can easily visit the charming small city of Corning, or head a little further to Watkins Glen and Seneca Lake with all the wineries. You can also easily visit Keuka Lake and all the wineries around that lake. Or just stay "on the farm" and read a good book--Mike has plenty to chose from. If you are truly looking for a peaceful get-away, look no further.

Peace, quiet, and amazing views!

SuefromPA Harrisburg, PA
Review Submitted: May 29, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
If you need a place to get away from the daily hustle and bustle of life, this is it! Situated on 70 acres with not another house in sight, this farmhouse can allow even the most stressed-out individual to relax!! The views from everywhere are simple amazing!

My husband, dog, and I just spent a wonderfully relaxing 5 days at Mike's house. The house was VERY clean and well-maintained, and we were very pleasantly surprised by all the little extras we found. The peace and quiet, combined with the comfortable bed and mattress, allowed for a good night's rest.

If you like to walk, there are just miles of places to do it, from the fairly level trail up to the pond, to the almost completely uphill/downhill hike on Murray Hill Road. While it was too cold to use the pond, it was very picturesque and we could see plenty of fish swimming around inside. Our dog had a blast running around and checking out all the new scents!

Mike was wonderful to deal with and super helpful! The house has plenty of brochures on local attractions and things to do.

We would definitely come back and highly recommend this property to anyone that enjoys getting away from it all!!

We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation on the farm. It was everything we hoped it would be. The house itself was charming and very clean. The kids loved the pond. Our son caught his first fish there! We loved how peaceful and quiet it was with no other houses around. We didn't want to leave and our children are already asking to go back next year. It was a perfect vacation.
