Excursions & Dining : Coastal Maine is famous for lobster which is prepared in many delicious, creative dishes- or traditionally steamed and savored with melted butter. If oysters are your thing, don't miss our locally cultivated (& shipped all over USA) oysters- especially those from the Damariscotta River.Join a boat excursion to Cabbage Island for an authentic lobster & clam bake. Boothbay also offers other cuisine:authentic Italian (chef summers here but is from Italy) Chinese, Vietnamese, traditional American and even a few good pizza joints! Bars serve locally brewed beers and great chowders. Several of them often host local and regional musicians for live evening week-end entertainment. Fresh fruit, veggies, and preserves are sold weekly (Thurs am) at the farmer's market on the Boothbay Common. Local homemade ice cream, fudge, taffy & candy-- all down town by the harbor-- is a must! Impressive, scenic 18 hole course (Boothbay Country Club) is newly expanded with a beautiful, challenging back 9. ALL skill levels will enjoy this course! Semi-private course welcomes all. Excellent 4 star Chef joined with new owners 2 yrs ago to create a noteworthy restaurant. Menu changes daily for lunch (every day) and dinner 3 nights:Tues (prime rib special is outstanding, every Tues), Thurs & Fri. Live music weekly. Pro shop and lessons also at the clubhouse. Miniature golf location is only 2 miles from our cottage. In fact, it is a championship course and the owner is the former New England Miniature Golf Champion! Both daytime and evening by lights open for playing. Creative and challenging, this course is fun for all ages. When was the last time you played? Photo opportunity! Also at this location you'll find locally made ice cream available (cones, shakes, sundeas, etc.) and a reconstructed covered bridge hosting a museum of sea shells and more. Owner is a Natl. Champion Mini-golfer!
