A Perfect Getaway!

Katfish Brick, NJ
Review Submitted: October 28, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
I don't know where to begin...this cottage was the perfect place to stage a perfect vacation! I originally found this rental property online in the summer of '08, but we couldn't get up to Maine until this fall; a season we've wanted to experience for awhile! We were there at the peak of fall foliage! Kim was awesome in arranging everything - she even told us about the town's fall festival where, we actually met a local artisan and became friends..a story in itself.
The cottage was perfect for us and our 6 month old son. Although it was unseasonably cold, we were plenty warm and thoroughly enjoyed the lake views from the picture window - even in the rain! We all canoed around the lake and explored the smaller one nearby. The place was absolutely charming; we loved the quaint touches everywhere. It felt like a place we would own ourselves - so homey and inviting! We loved the peace and quiet.
We're used to camping, so we appreciated the convenience of a kitchen and bathroom. It was good to have such a cozy home base so near the harbor area. We wanted for nothing - the cottage had everything we needed and more!
It was so good to meet Kim! She was so sweet and helpful. We hope to see her again!

Clean, cozy cottage has it all!

Larry and Patricia Worchester, Massachusets, USA
Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
We were delighted with this cottage perched at the edge of a magical lake. The owners couldn't have been nicer and were very accomodating; the cottage is well equiped, cozy and clean. Their cottage is a very special place and their care for it is obvious. We got more than we expected for the rate we paid--it was a great value for all that is there, including 3 boats!

We found it to be just perfect for our get-away and having the fireplace/wood was soothing and romantic! Loons and ducks sang us to sleep and fishing was very good. We explored with the canoe and found the adjoining lake, and grilled lakeside several nights. We left having had a very relaxing stay and will recommend this to friends -and return ourselves!

This is a jewel! We booked again for next year!

Liam.and.Dorene Naples, FL, USA
Review Submitted: May 9, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We loved this clean, quiet cabin on peaceful waterfront--and we got far more than just that! The house is charming and comfortable and seems larger than its actual dimensions. We loved having a fire inside at night.Town and activities are very close (2 miles) which was perfect. Owners are wonderful and so helpful with local and coastal info.We will be back!! This was also ideal because the weather is warm, not many tourists, and May rates are such an incredible value--offering so much more than any B&B we considered. We had a great week!!

Cabin that you don't want

ARD Green Valley, AZ
Review Submitted: January 7, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
Where do we start about property # 115618

Let’s start with the floor space size reported 920 sq ft.

Actual size measured outside cabin 30’-6’” x 16’ – 3” = 495.62 sq ft

Hence the cabin is VERY cluttered. The furniture is VERY used and uncomfortable to sit for any period of time.

Amenities reported:

General

Cold water dispenser = Sink faucet

Kitchen

Ice maker = You fill 4 ice cube trays under kitchen faucet

Stove Top Burners = 1 large rear burner broken, no electric connection.

Living room

Fireplace = Owner discourages use of fireplace

Sofa bed = Very used & tired, uncomfortable to sit for any length of time

Dining

Seating for 4 people = two of the people had better be very small (probably because there is over 400 sq ft of living space NOT available)

Bathroom

Newly remodeled BUT BECAUSE OF A SEPTIC TANK PROBLEM, we were ask to reduce water usage & toilet flushing.

Bedroom

The main bedroom has the FULL SIZE bed pushed against the wall to allow a walkway. The person sleeping next to the wall must slide down over the footboard of the bed or climb over their partner to exit the bed.

2nd bedroom has bunk beds, good for small kids or vertical challenged adults. Most direct access to the dock/lake is through this bedroom.

Exterior

The dock is newly rebuilt with access to the lake. NO SANDY BEACH available as advertised.

NO PICNIC TABLE for outside entertaining as advertised.

Septic system drained slowly from kitchen sink, were told owners had tried to clear with Drano. Talked to owner, we picked up plumbers grade drain cleaner at local hardware store. Dumped 32 oz down the drain, still slow. Called owner, they would obtain a plumber for emergency service. Plumber said problem was septic system. Now the owner had to call septic tank pumping service, of course this was on an emergency basis, pumped from septic tank on Sunday (8th day of our vacation). Owner never called to evaluate the plumbing problem, which pumping septic did not solve the problem completely, improved but not resolved.

Great Location and Kim is the best

Steve899 Illinois
Review Submitted: August 4, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
The Boothebay Harbor area is fantastic, this property can not be in a better location. House has all you need and Knickerbocker Lake is beautiful. Bass were on the slow side but if you get on the lake it is marvelous. Kim is very helpful and it was a pleasure meeting her. I would not waste my time seeing Bar Harbor , Boothebay offers more to do and see. The location to Boothebay was perfect for us, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Restaurants in Boothebay offer a great variety of price and types of cuisine. Thanks Kim. Steve
