Best Vacation of all

Our family voted this the best vacation yet. The kids stayed at the river all day long with swimming and the canoes as the grownups went wine tasting and shopping in the cute little town of Healdsburg.
The two homes on the beautiful property were very comfortable and had fully equipped kitchens. We fixed almost all meals in the homes and found that everything we needed was supplied for us in the kitchen. On the property there are so many areas to have private visits with family members like the several ponds and fountains with fish, frogs and the beautiful lilies. I particularly liked spending time reading on the quiet country front porch. It reminded me of my childhood at my grandmothers farm in Pa. Bill told us about the ugh redwood trees that he planted 20+ years ago.
The river ranch house was large enough to have us all in the kitchen for breakfast. The period furnishings were in good taste and of great interest to the whole family. The Victorian dinning room was fun and colorful during dinner. The five bathrooms were especially convenient with all the kids, and the bedrooms were quiet and comfortable. Bob spent most of the time on the large brick patio as we all joined him in the evening by the fire pit. The kids stayed glued to the HIDef tv in the living room.
We were definitely out in the country, but only five minutes to downtown Healdsburg. We all enjoyed the free concert on Tuesday evening in the plaza. One day we went to the ocean and the beach were the very river we lived next to emptied into the Pacific Ocean.
We will definitely be back next summer, there were several wineries that we just couldn't get to. Sonoma County and Healdsburg have many adventures to enjoy.
