One week is not enough!

This was our first experience with homeaway.com, and with rentals, for that matter. Usually, there are five of us crammed into one hotel room for a week’s vacation – not ideal. This cottage was perfect for us! My daughters stayed in the second bedroom with the twin bed and trundle, and my son slept in the living room on the couch. Speaking of which, if I had a “complaint,” it would be that the photos show a futon in the living, not a fold-out couch (though it is in the write-up as a fold-out), which made for rather tight walk-thrus on late-nite potty runs.
And the cottage is compact, for sure. If you have large people in your party, bear that in mind. However, this rental had absolutely everything we could possibly need! The owner seemed to think of every little detail – there were full ice trays waiting for us when we arrived, in addition to charcoal briquettes and matches for the outside grill, a basket full of brochures for activities and restaurants and even some basic toiletries in the bath!
The cottage itself was in the perfect location for us, as well. It seemed equidistant from anything and everything we wanted to do in Rockport and Gloucester, though often, even the kids wanted to go back to the cottage just to “chill.” The driveway in was a bit rough (we were glad to have the SUV), but typical of many beachside entrances. There were bunnies crossing on the way up the drive, and deer in the field directly behind the cottage – very Disney! And the view was every bit as amazing as pictured! We could see one of the lighthouses perfectly from the kitchen window and both as we walked around the main house. There are about 10 cottages around a larger house, and they are quite close, but we had no problems with noisy neighbors. The rental is part of an association which provides adequate trash disposal and basic “courtesy rules” for all.
Overall, we had the most relaxing vacation we’ve ever had (without leaving the kids home, that is)! We absolutely would rent here again!
