This five bedroom, three bath home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is ideally located in the heart of the Berkshires. A barn apartment on the same property sleeps four - great for extended family or friends. The house sits on nine acres & includes an, in-ground, 45-foot pool great for lap swimming & family fun. The house is beautifully furnished and includes a large gourmet country kitchen equipped with a six-burner gas restaurant-style stove plus other specialty appliances. Wireless broadband Internet available throughout the house. A solarium breakfast room comfortably seats eight. A large, candlelit dining room seats 12 and is perfect for both casual and formal dining. The fully-furnished living room is elegant & comfortable with a large working fireplace & stereo. The first floor library, is equipped with TV/VCR/DVD (Dish Network reception). Its beautiful, cherry Murphy bed is excellent for overflow guests or those who prefer ground level accommodation

The house is just 20 miles from Tanglewood, 10 miles from Norfolk & its extraordinary Yale Music School concerts & 15 miles from the Berkshire Mountain Music Festival. Excellent ski areas can be found close by, including Butternet Basin in nearby Great Barrington, Mass. You can enjoy a wide variety of walking trails through secluded woods on warm summer days or crisp fall afternoons. These trails are immediately accessible from your doorstep, & the scenic Appalachian Trail is just 15 minutes away. Great restaurants, excellent shopping & other family diversions (including a new triplex theatre) can be found in Great Barrington or in Lenox & Stockbridge (birthplace of Norman Rockwell & home of the Norman Rockwell Museum). The house is located in the quaint village of New Marlborough, home to a wonderful 18th century inn with some of the best food in the Berkshires. A gourmet luncheon & wine shop is located in Southfield, two miles down the road

A large screened room & open porch faces the one acre lawn and garden and is ideal for afternoon parties or evening meals. The upstairs master bedroom also features a large working fireplace.

A Terrific Family Vacation

My family of six adults and three small children were very comfortable in this house. We used the Murphy bed in the library and it worked out well. Adjoining that room is a beautiful spa bathroom. We did not use the Jacuzzi because the water from the jets was rusty. The second floor is as described in the offering.

There is quite a range of eating options and we utilized all of them - eat in kitchen, traditional dining room where we ate by candlelight, two porch locations - one screened and one not, and a table by the pool.

The pool and grounds were very well maintained and the house was clean.All my contacts with the family were pleasant and prompt. When I inquired about a gate for the stairs, they purchased a new one and had it sent to the house before our arrival.

We had great weather for our week and used the pool every day. It was completely fenced with childproof gates. We got our own kiddie pool and awning for additional shade.

There is an upscale restaurant right down the road and they have a moderately priced pris fixe dinner midweek. My daughter and son in law said the food was excellent. We also had massages at a spa nearby. It was a beautiful facility and quite delightful.

One caveat - my son in law got a hefty speeding ticket in the area. A GPS is quite helpful on back roads and watch the speed limits.
