Nourished by its own reservoir the agricultural area of Argaka is well known for its abundance of citrus orchards. The lower part of the settlement of Argaka - Kato Argaka - is the newer settlement standing next to the sea. Although this area features more contemporary style residences, a small supermarket, a kiosk and a handful of tavernas dotted along the coastal road, the atmosphere is still very laid back. The private sandy beach is the exclusivity of this settlement. Polis is the principal town for the region, huddled around a pedestrianised square where visitors and locals gather in the mornings to enjoy a coffee and watch the world pass by and in the evenings to dine at one of the wide selection of restaurants, tavernas and cafes which radiate out from the centre. The town has an archaeological museum and cultural centre. Polis which is approximately a 5 minute drive away offers the nearest organized beach which are backed by tall Eucalyptus trees.
