Turris Maxima is a beautifully renovated medieval farm estate available for holiday rental on the outskirts of Rome.
A royal family estate dating from the seventeenth century, the estate covers over 359 acres of farmlands, parkland and gardens. The Turris Maxima farm is beautifully preserved with friendly farm animals and a fantastic organic kitchen garden, which guests are free to harvest for seasonal fruit, vegetable and eggs for the kitchen.
We also offer a Bed and Breakfast option in low season, and are happy to provide catering during your stay year round - all meals are prepared using the delicious fresh produce from the garden.
The accommodation comprises two self-contained farmhouse villas – the farmhouse and medieval tower - providing very comfortable accommodation for up to eighteen guests. Turris Maxima is situated within the boundaries of the city of Rome in Lazio. The Villa and Tower are self-contained luxury cottages within a larger, ancient farm estate and nature park. Cookery classes are held at the farmhouse and guests can have-a-go at tending the organic vegetable gardens or meet the friendly farmyard animals. The farm estate is a joy to wander through, and you will get a real feeling of what life was like on an ancient Roman farm.
This is an area of unspoilt country parkland, blending sacred woodlands of cork trees, aromatic pines, olive groves and picturesque farmland. The parkland is habitat to many secretive woodland animals, such as foxes, weasels, porcupine and pheasant, which the trails will help you get close to.
The farmhouse villa and tower are minutes from the centre of Rome, only six kilometres from St. Peters Square, and all the delights and diversions that this fabulous city has to offer. You can use public transport to get to and from the estate, as the bus stops just outside the gates, which means having a car is not in any way vital. There are many amazing things to do and see in Rome, and you are sure to have a checklist of architectural wonders and artworks to visit. Rome is also a great city to amble through and explore at your leisure - discover the intriguing back streets, smaller churches bursting with secret treasures and fantastic local restaurants. Turris Maxima is only a ten-minute drive to the coast and beaches and an hour to the ski slopes for winter amusements – and low season rental can include a bed and breakfast option to give you a great start to the day.
