History of Pilot Hill Farm:
Pilot Hill Farm was formerly the old Iselin Dairy Farm which last operated in the 1950’s – it was bought by the Vineyard Open Lands Foundation and made into a non-profit development of high end homes, each sitting on 3-5 acres of land – there are protective covenants and the house density if very low – there are 21 houses built on 90 acres of forest and fields with about 70 acres of common lands including a 1/2 mile private beach, parking areas, grazing fields and farm buildings. The farm and barns are located a 1/2 mile away from our house - the farm is clean and well kept with a couple belted Galloway cows, some chickens and two friendly goats – the main crops are hay, cut flowers, table vegetables and eggs. It is not a commercial farm, but rather is run by a young couple who like living at Pilot Hill. The roads are well-kept unpaved country lanes that wind through the farm and fields to the beach. Good for walking and jogging and slow cruising.
Testament from Prior Guest in 2006 & 2007:
Just wanted to drop a note and thank you for renting your beautiful house on the Vineyard to us. This summer 2008 will be our third summer at your home. Since vacationing on the Vineyard since 1996, your home truly matches our family’s needs. With Meghan age six and Jack age four, we really need a place that has the amenities to fit our active family. Your home fits that. With the well stocked kitchen and comfortably-furnished family room, it’s ok to be “stuck home” on a rainy day!
The kids love running around the yard and walking to the beach. The walk along the farm - and last year being followed by the run-away billy goat - adds to their summer memories. Seeing cows walking through the woods was also quite the sight!
My morning runs along the scenic roads and stopping for a cup of coffee at the Black Dog Café keeps me coming back. Looking forward to adding another year of memories.

Ski:
Water Skiing only!
Golf:
There are a two public golf courses on the Vineyard, with a very pleasant 9 hole course about three miles from our home - it is Mink Meadows Course - located at 320 Golf Club Road Vineyard Haven, MA 02568 (508) 693-0600 Chet Nowak, P.G.A. Professional ...
It is a wonderful course with great ocean views and no water hazards! It is perfect for a holiday round and great in the early morning.
the other public course is the Farm Neck 18 hole course, which is quite famous with wonderful views and some very challenging holes. It is a bit expensive and hard to get decent tee times, but it is an experience not to be missed for avid golfers.
Other Activities:
Country Festivals and Fairs throughout the summer, Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday Mornings
