Photos and Description of the Vineyard Haven vacation house rental
3 Bedrooms - 3 full baths, Property sleeps up to 10

Very sunny, secluded 3500 sq ft modern Victorian on 3 private, wooded acres at the end of a cul-de-sac in exclusive Pilot Hill Farm. Walk, drive or bike to private, calm, half-mile salt water beach facing the Elizabeth Islands. Pilot Hill has a working farm producing fresh eggs, cut flowers, & vegetables, The home has three bedrooms, including a tower-shaped master bedroom suite with 18 ft cathedral ceiling, and private, screened-in sleeping porch. Wide Open & Spacious first floor includes kitchen, dining room, and living room opening onto a huge mahogany outdoor deck. High quality cherry kitchen, granite countertops, stainless steel appl and unique architectural features such as 8 ft walnut doors, natural maple floors, tile baths, 10 ft high ceilings, skylights, and quiet ceiling fans throughout. Tastefully decorated, with a private lawn and sunning area surrounded by unique ornamental beach grasses

History of Pilot Hill Farm: Pilot Hill Farm was formerly the old Iselin Dairy Farm which last operated in the 1950’s – it was bought by the Vineyard Open Lands Foundation and made into a non-profit development of high end homes, each sitting on 3-5 acres of land – there are protective covenants and the house density if very low – there are 21 houses built on 90 acres of forest and fields with about 70 acres of common lands including a 1/2 mile private beach, parking areas, grazing fields and farm buildings. The farm and barns are located a 1/2 mile away from our house - the farm is clean and well kept with a couple belted Galloway cows, some chickens and two friendly goats – the main crops are hay, cut flowers, table vegetables and eggs. It is not a commercial farm, but rather is run by a young couple who like living at Pilot Hill. The roads are well-kept unpaved country lanes that wind through the farm and fields to the beach. Good for walking and jogging and slow cruising.

Testament from Prior Guest in 2006 & 2007: Just wanted to drop a note and thank you for renting your beautiful house on the Vineyard to us. This summer 2008 will be our third summer at your home. Since vacationing on the Vineyard since 1996, your home truly matches our family’s needs. With Meghan age six and Jack age four, we really need a place that has the amenities to fit our active family. Your home fits that. With the well stocked kitchen and comfortably-furnished family room, it’s ok to be “stuck home” on a rainy day!

The kids love running around the yard and walking to the beach. The walk along the farm - and last year being followed by the run-away billy goat - adds to their summer memories. Seeing cows walking through the woods was also quite the sight!

My morning runs along the scenic roads and stopping for a cup of coffee at the Black Dog Café keeps me coming back. Looking forward to adding another year of memories.

Lamberts Cove Beach, State Beach and many other public beaches are within a few country miles. Pilot Hill Farm's Private North Shore Beach is 3/4 mile from the house and shared only by a few residences with easy, reserved parking. Pilot Hill Farm is fun for children with its animals, fields and fresh eggs. Fishing, boating, walking paths and all of the fun of Martha's Vineyard in Summer. Pilot Hill is only three miles from the main ferry landing and near stores, golf, library and attractions. Our home is private and comfortable, surrounded by sunny lawns, decks, Hydrangea and Beach Grasses at the end of Kettle Hole Lane, a quiet and peaceful spot to relax.

Other Activities: Country Festivals and Fairs throughout the summer, Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday Mornings

Golf: There are a two public golf courses on the Vineyard, with a very pleasant 9 hole course about three miles from our home - it is Mink Meadows Course - located at 320 Golf Club Road Vineyard Haven, MA 02568 (508) 693-0600 Chet Nowak, P.G.A. Professional ...

It is a wonderful course with great ocean views and no water hazards! It is perfect for a holiday round and great in the early morning.

the other public course is the Farm Neck 18 hole course, which is quite famous with wonderful views and some very challenging holes. It is a bit expensive and hard to get decent tee times, but it is an experience not to be missed for avid golfers.

Ski: Water Skiing only!

Osprey House

5 of 5
Submitted: May 20, 2013 Stayed: April 2013
Spent two wonderful weeks at the Osprey House this spring The house was spacious, comfortable, private, and welcoming. We enjoyed the short walks to the private beach on Vineyard Sound, visiting the farm nearby, and watching and listening to all the birds.
The owner was thoughtful and called at our arrival to assure everything met our expectations. In fact, the house exceeded our expectations....The location was convenient - just a short drive to Vineyard Haven and the ferry.
We have been visiting the Vineyard for 30 plus years and will certainly return to the Osprey House. It combined everything we needed for another memorable vacation on Martha's Vineyard. We'll be back.

Osprey House - Great Vineyard Farm Experience

Submitted: May 17, 2012 Stayed: July 2011
It was a difficult task to find a new place for our family to vacation…our children had grown up taking summer vacations in Vineyard Haven and their childhood memories would be hard to match in their now adult eyes. On top of it we now were grandparents and had a 2 year old to entertain.
Osprey House was the perfect home base for the whole family to discover and rediscover all the delights Martha’s Vineyard has to offer! Osprey House offered tasteful decorating and all the comforts of home for my demanding family- large rooms, enough bathrooms, cozy couches, and a gourmet kitchen and grill for my children to cook fresh fish and steam fresh dug clams. Down the road, we bought fresh eggs from the farm, found berries to pick, and Black Dog Bakery and other wonderful restaurants are just a 5-minute drive for those other times!
Our old favorite places and activities including biking, touring the sculpture garden and farmers market were given competition by our new favorites at the Osprey House property - the glimpses of turkeys, peacocks, and deer, the ease of having easy access and the calm of the private beach, and peaceful and joyfully silly times on the deck and in the spacious yard. The afternoon three ospreys circled over the house and dove across the deck thrillingly demonstrated the appropriateness of the name of this beautiful home! We started planning our return to Osprey House as soon as we drove onto the ferry to go home and all of us-even the now 3 year old-are counting the days until we can return!

We have been vacationing on the Vineyard since 1996. For the last 3 years we have been renting the Herosian's house. The amenities are perfect and the kids love the walk to the beach through the farm. Great time and we will continue to spend our two week Vineyard vacation here.
