This lovely year-round chalet is situated in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire- only 20 ft. from private waterfront on crystal clear Rust Pond, a quiet 210 acre pristine lake in Wolfeboro, 'The Oldest Summer Resort in America.' From the master bedroom balcony, you can see the morning sunrise and watch fish swim by in the crystal clear water. A morning dip is a great way to start the day followed by breakfast on your private deck.
We are 3 miles from the center of town and Lake Winnipesaukee. The Kangamangus Highway and the White Mountains are only an hour's drive north.Lake Winniipesaukee Golf Club is about 3 miles from the door... Rust Pond is noted for great bass fishing. Pets okay with prior approval.
There are 3 golf courses within 10 miles: Enjoy New England at it's best..... we are very close to the majesty of the White Mountains and in the center of the Lake Winnipesaukee area... The Mt. Washington Cruise Ship offers trips from Wolfeboro several days a week .. Story Land is an hour north...Shopping and antique hunts are very special when you want a change from your beautiful lake surroundings -----especially in spring and during the fall with the crisp air and lovely colors everywhere... We are only an hour from the duty free shopping in North Conway so you can even get a start on that Christmas shopping...
We just got back from Staying at this "chalet" and it was the best!! We stayed on Lake Winni in the past, and it was very noisy. This house is located on Rust Pond which is about 2 miles from Lake Winni and Wolfeboro town, and it was the quietest, most tranquil place you will ever go!! The loons at night made it extra special. The fishing was incredible. Smallies, Largemouth Bass, Pikes, etc. were abundant!! Catfish at night seemed to come outta nowhere!! Swimming was incredible also!! The house itself has everything you need. The owners were super super nice and accommodating. Please don't pass this one up!! Much better than staying on the big lake.
My family and I were asked to visit this home 2 years ago with friends of ours who have been staying there for years. We fell in love and realized we had to visit again. This past September we revisited and fell in love all over again. It is so peaceful to stay on Rust Pond. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing. I loved sitting with the music on in the late afternoon overlooking the pond and if I was real still the squirrels and chipmunks would run under my feet. It's such a change from our regular life of constantly being on the run. Here is New York I can barely get my teenager out of bed by 10 am and up at Rust Pond he was up most mornings by 6 am to watch the sunrise and jump in the kayaks.
Most days we stayed at the house and enjoyed fishing and boating. We finally decided to venture out and visit "Castle in the Clouds". We hiked through the property and enjoyed the waterfalls and streams, even when my son slipped in. After hiking we jumped back in the car and headed up hill to the Carriage House for the Locknow Mansion and jumped in the trolley for the ride to the home. This home was celebrating it's 100th anniversary. It's not to be missed. Absolutely stunning and built well before it's time with central vac and refrigeration. Back down at the Carriage house we enjoyed an amazing lunch sitting on the outdoor patio.
We made so many memories at this home. The homeowners are an absolute delight. I enjoyed listening to Mrs. Webb's stories of all their times on the pond. I hope to return and hear many more stories.
We stayed at this chalet while attending a wedding in Wolfboro. This chalet, in addition to its charm, provided many of those "forgotten" items, like shampoo, soap, toothpaste, iron, ironing board, scissors, etc.. It was very accomodating. The area is wonderfully peaceful with hardly anyone on the lake but a couple loons. The property has a beautiful deck with seasonal flowers that are kept flourishing for the guests in addition to plenty of comfy chairs to just relax in. We brought our little dog and she LOVED it! She'd wander down the steps to a little landing before the dock and just hang out there. There are also a few trails that go around the property that give a great walk. We were provided with a gas grill for our use, as well as a washer and dryer if we needed it (we didn't, but it was there if we needed to). The Master bedroom was very nice with sliding doors out to it's own deck overlooking the lake. The other bedrooms were roomy and plentiful for a large family with guests. The living room has a queen pull out sofa along with 3 comfy chairs and a bunch of games. The Kitchen was fully equipped including spices and olive oil which was a pleasant surprise. The fridge had condiments in it and someone even left us some ice cream bars! For those with iPods, there was also a radio/docking station combo, so we were able to listen to our choice of music. The owners, the Webbs, were very nice. We got a tour of their home which is just a short walk from the Chalet, along with a history lesson of the area. Two things I did want to mention is that although the pictures showed a wood stove in the living room, there is not one, so don't plan on burning any duraflames or anything. :) Also, if you have a lot of stuff to unload, make sure you use the access road that brings you to the side of the house, that way you don't have to walk down 2 flights of outside stairs, especially if it's raining. It might prove to be a bit tricky. We didn't realize we could do that until after everything was unloaded. Lucky for us though we knew to use it when the time came to reload to go home. All in all, I would definitely stay here again, hopefully with warmer weather to enable a sample of the crystal clear lake swimming. Thank you!!
My wife and I have been staying with Ruth and Ed for the past 6 years - we are both avid fishermen and you cannot beat Rust for smallmouth if you know where to find them at different times of year - they really move about depending on water temp and lake condition - My wife caught a smallmouth over 5 lbs last year and one trip over a couple of days we caught and released 58 small and largemouth bass - The key is catch and release so the lake stays healthy - For the right price I will give out some secrets - but it is really expensive LOL
My wife and I had a great time at this very cozy and quiet home. Awesome deck for barbeques and enjoying the waterfront view. We went hiking at Castle in the Clouds and Mt Major which were near by. Just 2 miles, in Wolfeboro Center, there is a grocery store, Dunkin Donuts, many restaurants and gift shops to browse. This house is pet friendly and our dogs also had a wonderful time. We have been to numerous homes and this by far is the best. Ruth (the owner) is very nice and extremely accomadating. Can't wait to go back.
My family and I have been coming to this beautiful, peaceful home for the past eight years, and God willing will be coming back for many years to come.
We fell in love with this home the moment we stepped through the door. It embodies quaint peaceful living and is a perfect setting
for quiet family bonding. We live in New York, and the craziness of life can really drain not only an individual, but also a family.
This house is located on picturesque Rust Pond ( a 210 acre POND !) with plenty of space and beautiful scenery. I have always said that you do not have to be a professional photographer
to take a good picture from this area and our home is filled with beautiful pictures of the time we have spent here.
The home is located just close enough to town, but just far enough for privacy. The town is but a few miles away
and has wonderful places to eat and shop. We make it a point to visit the Front Porch and the Strawberry Patch restaurants in town each year.
and our trip would not be complete without visiting the Yankee Smoke house located in Ossippee only a few minutes away.
If you are looking for more adventurous activities you are only a short drive in any direction to
towns that have many family oriented activities; like the largest arcade in North America, or a fun and exciting water park.
And you cannot visit New Hampshire without seeing the famous "Castle In the Clouds". Trust me you will not be disappointed.
The owners are truly wonderful, gracious people who make you feel right at home. I would highly recommend this home to anyone
who is looking for a vacation that will help them reconnect with themselves and reconnect as a family.
Many lake associated activities right outside your door; swimming, boating, sunbathing and peaceful solitude. Great fishing from your own dock or from one of your available boats. Beautiful town of Wolfeboro is 2.5 miles away with all the Lake Winnipesaukee activities available there. -- Mt. Washington boat cruises from town docks. --Conway outlet stores just an hour north. --The Kangamangus Highway and the White Mountains are only an hour's drive north.
Other Activities: boating---, kayaks, row boat and canoe are available
