Perhaps the best way to sum up Folly is that it is not Disney. An 11-mile drive from historic Charleston, it has an eclectic local flavor which embraces artists, surfers and wealthy boomer's alike! Remember, the operative word on Folly is laid back so if you are looking for a relaxing vacation this is it. 'Lamm's End' is located at the northern end of the island. We are a short stroll to the old coastguard station, which is a fabulous place to view the Morris Lighthouse and to spot dolphin frolicking in the ocean. This part of Folly is hypnotic with views of not only the ocean... but equally and some say more amazing views of the Folly River. 'Lamm's End' is architecturally designed to maximize ocean and river views. The home was extensively remodeled this spring. We also added the crabbing pier at the back of the property which is a great spot to relax and enjoy views of the marsh and un-inhabited Morris Island.

From two rear porches, there are panoramic views of the Folly River, the lighthouse, uninhabited Morris Island and the bridges of Charleston. A favorite spot for guests at the end of the day is on that back porch as the sun sets over our side of the island. The top floor is the living floor. It is, as one guest described 'our perch on top of the world'. You don't need to be sitting on the porches to enjoy nature's splendor. The Living Room , Dining Room and kitchen, all have sweeping vistas. There is a 4th Bedroom bath combo on top floor. The master suite includes a queen bed and has ocean views. Another queen bedroom has expansive views of the tidal creek. The third bedroom which faces the ocean has twin beds and is set up as a kids away room with a TV-VCR and games in the closet. Creative cooks will find a well-equipped kitchen.

A wonderful weekend with friends

I returned to Lamm's End (my 4th visit!) for a reunion with a couple of college friends. The place had been updated and was better than ever-- beautiful color scheme, comfortable furnishings -- all the details were wonderful. Everything was in great shape. We enjoyed relaxing in the house, walking on the beach and eating in a couple of the Folly Beach restaurants (Lost Dog Cafe, Taco Boy). We did a very fun 1/2 day kayaking trip-- saw lots of dolphins around Folly Beach, along with oyster beds, egrets and more. A couple of trips into Charleston for meals and shopping made it a perfect getaway. We'll be back!

Wonderful customer/owner communication

Our extended family stayed at Lamm's End for one week in July. The home was well maintained. The front porch was a pleasure for sitting in the rocking chairs and drinking our morning coffee. There was a constant sea breeze on the porch. The boys (and even this mom) enjoyed crabbing on the dock at the rear. We saw a HUGE blue crab-never caught him! Beth was VERY organized and made the reservation and rental process easy and pleasurable.
The top floor bedroom/bathroom was small, but workable. Would be best for teen or for those who do not do well with navigating stairs to the bedrooms on lower level. We cooked several meals, and had everything we could need at our disposal.

Wonderful Getaway in Folly Beach

Lamm's End is a delightful home. It is located on a quieter part of the island where one can easily walk (we counted...it's 300 steps) to the uncrowded beach...while at the same time one can sit on the back deck and enjoy the beautiful and quiet tidal marsh. The property is very clean and well-equipped. The beds are extremely comfortable. While Lamm's End is out of the hustle and bustle of Folly Beach, it is just a short drive to the center of town. Our favorite eating spots were Lost Dog Cafe and Taco Boy. Beth, the owner, is very helpful and efficient which made our stay free of worry.We created many fond memories during our stay at Lamm's End and hope to return one day soon.

Cooper River Bridge Run Weekend

Thanks so much for a wonderful Cooper River Bridge Run weekend at Lamm's End! We have been coming to this race for 15 years and this is one of our favorite houses - we love the decor, comfortable bedrooms and the view of the marsh off the back deck is fantastic. The house was clean and well-maintained.

After a successful race we had a masseuse come and had massages on the back deck with the sounds and breezes from the marsh - HEAVEN. We had a great time biking to see the Morris Lighthouse, and then to town for lunch. We had wonderful meals at BLU, Center St Kitchen, Crab Shack and Taco Boy on Folly, and loved our French meal at 39 Rue de Jean in Charleston. We had a blast listening to the guy on guitar at Planet Follywood!

We had tons of fun our long weekend on Folly and Lamm's End was a big part of that! Thanks so much!
