Visit the National Park Headquarters in nearby Empire for an orientation. Walks in natural areas abound. Choose Alligator Hill in the shade of the trees with glorious views over the lakes. Hike Pyramid Point to arrive at a vista over Lake Michigan to the Manitou Islands. Trek the dunes or marked paths through the wetlands, bogs and meadows, an area rich in flora, fauna and migrating birds. Learn about life saving and boats at the Sleeping Bear Point Coast Guard Station and Maritime Museum. Follow the Pierce Stocking Drive by bike or car for fabulous sunset views.
Kayak, canoe the Crystal River to the Homestead, fish in the lakes or charter a boat from Fishtown in Leland, windsurf, or sail. Ride bikes, play tennis or golf, walk in the sand on the Lake Michigan shoreline, take an art class at the Glen Arbor Art Association. Visit the shops and art galleries in Glen Arbor, Empire, Leland and Suttons Bay. Eat at a variety of local establishments.
