This property has easy access to one of Maine’s only sandy beaches! The beach is accessed from a 20 step stairway. Two Adirondack chairs await the comfort seekers on a platform at the top of the stairs. Swimming in the cold waters of Maine is always a challenge, but not at the Tree House. The water is warmer and there is sand instead of rocks. We have a kayak rack for 6 boats just beyond the high water mark. It is not necessary to drag or carry your kayak - just leave it at the waters edge until your ready for your next paddle.

The view is spectacular as you look south along the Penobscot Bay toward the beautiful village of Castine and the lighthouse at Ft. Point.

Convenient shopping, restaurants and groceries (in case you feel like cooking in the Tree House’s kitchen) can be found in nearby Bucksport, Searsport, and Belfast.

There are many other activities that can be enjoyed for the adventurous! There is plenty of hiking in Acadia National Park, or in the small park located less than a mile down the beach. Maine is famous for it’s blueberries and there are lots of sites where you can pick your own nearby! Sunset boat cruises, kayak rides, lobster feasting and even golf await you!

Come and see why Maine is known as Vacationland! You will never want to leave!

Awesome experience

A wonderful, scenic, and quiet oasis in the middle of Maine touristic madness. The property is spotless and the private entrance to the bay/beach is definitely a plus. The cottage is newly renovated and the panoramic 180 view is stunning, especially from the private deck. The hosts (Bill and Claudia) are very respectful of your privacy, yet available when you need tips. This is a prime location: easy to get to the Acadia National Park and other sight seeing musts on the coast. The kitchen organization is not for gourmets, yet is manageable. We would go back without hesitation and we highly recommend the place for those of you who love privacy, quietness, and stunning views on the bay.

Owner's Response: We work hard at keeping everything spotless. We appeciate cleanliness. It is also nice to have a new property that doesn't have a musty odor from years of neglect. Come join us in 2009 we are currently taking reservations. We are more than happy to answer any of your questions.

Best kept secret in Maine

We could have not been more spoiled during our stay at the Tree House. I can honestly only describe our experience there in the most flattering of superlatives.

The Tree House itself is incredibly charming, sunny, clean and fully functional. The location is unbelievable. You can choose to spend your day at the private beach, go kayaking from the private beach to the surrounding area, go to one of the many quaint and lobster-filled towns nearby (great shopping and truly fantastic dining!), or go sightseeing and/or hiking in the wonderfulness that is Acadia National Park, just to name a few easily accessible activities in the vicinity.

The hosts, Claudia, Bill and their lovable Golden Retriever Sophie, were one of the highlights of our trip. They are generous, available yet very respectful of your space, incredibly friendly, and very knowledgeable and helpful in planning an itinerary if you are looking for recommendations.

I recommend the Tree House to anyone looking to find a little magic...you will not regret it.

Amazing. Warm, spotless, welcoming and breathtaking. We spent the better part of a week exploring the coast of Maine using 'The Treehouse' as a home base. Each night we returned to amazing views and this comfortable studio. Camden is about an hour south and Bar Harbor is about an hour north.
The owners are near by but very respectful of your privacy. I've rented places in Maine and the ADK park for many years and must say this was the most enjoyable experience yet. If you get a chance to stay here I'd highly recommend it.

A truly magical vacation

To arrive at this gem you go off the beaten path onto a small dirt road that looks out over the water, wind through a forest and then as you turn there it is in front of you, the most quaint cottage. The "treehouse" so aptly named, was clean, bright and truly turn key. We wanted for nothing. The beach was private, and calm, perfect for our toddlers. We explored many regions up and down the coast and this was in good location to all. My children loved the swing and exploring the beach at low tide. The Dressers were available but never intrusive, pleasant and welcoming. This was a truly wonderful family vacation.

Ideal Family Trip

Our 2009 family trip to Sandy Point, Maine in this adorable cottage was ideal. Our five and seven year old children were happy to wake up in the aptly named “Tree House” and have their hot cocoa on the balcony surrounded by majestic fir trees. The balcony overlooks a forest wonderland complete with a moss covered ledge, hand hewn stone benches, a creek to explore, a picnic table for lunch in the garden and a path to the beach-just steps away.

The kids were thrilled to go kayaking with mom and dad in the calm waters of Mill Cove. They saw seals and heard the sea birds, but this was real life not television. The beach is truly sandy, great for walking and exploring. We took day trips to Acadia and Castine.

The beds were comfortable. The overstuffed couches and chairs were comfy to relax in after a day of outside activity. The kitchen and dining table were ample for our needs. Everything was very clean.

The hosts Bill and Claudia were kind and shared wonderful spots to see during our trip. We liked it so much we plan to return again this summer. We hope to add to our collection of sea glass and pottery from the beach and search out the famous pebble stone a little further up the coast. We will count the days until we are again… Down East.
