Cosy Crow's Nest

Qui Rochester, NY
Review Submitted: December 19, 2007 Date of Stay: September 2007
The Crow's Nest is a neat well appointed house at the edge of down town Bar Harbor. It is the perfect distance to walk into town to catch the bus to Acadia National Park for climbing/hiking/cycling; or enjoy one of the many great restaurants. What really made our stay special was the warm welcome we got from the owner, Marge. She made sue we had everything we needed and was quick to offer additional suggestions of things to do. We plan to return in 2008

Great Location and Fun

MG and SG Tampa, FL
Review Submitted: November 12, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We spent the second week of September 2008 at the Crow's Nest with our children and grandchildren. We could not have chosen a better house for our vacation. The Crow's Nest was wonderfully clean and neat, as well as homey and inviting. It was our first trip to Bar Harbor and the Crow's Nest was the perfect location for walking in town, or walking to the ocean. We were just minutes away from Acadia National Park. Our grandchildren had a great time running around the yard and riding their bikes around the neighborhood. Although there was intermittent construction next door, we were out having fun all day and it was quiet by the time we got back each afternoon. We love the Crow's Nest and are already planning a return trip next year!

Rubuttle to J&R Listing and Photos misleading

wojo Shelton, CT
Review Submitted: October 21, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
I have never written any reviews or written to any internet forums before but after reading the reviews of J&R, I felt obligated to set the record straight. We rented the Crow's Nest on the week of July 4th. We originally booked the home nearly a year in advance. At that time, the owner told us about the impending construction. On our arrival, the owner was apologetic and compasionate. The construction was never interfering. In fact, living in an extremely quiet neighborhood in CT, we never knew they were there.

Dear J& R it unfair and borderline malicious to lay blame on a situation the owner has no control of. In fact, her advertisement is not at all misleading. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and close to all the ammenities of Bar Harbor, as advertised.

Furthermore, when the next door construction is completed, I believe this home will have the added value of unparalled tranquility in the downtown area, blocking all the sounds of Main St.

I look forward to staying at the Crow's Nest next year and take advantage of a beautifully maintained home just off Main St and enjoy the owners knowledge of all that Bar Harbor has to offer, including those lesser known and more local establishments.

Thank you

Listing & photos misleading

J & R Bloomington, Indiana, USA
Review Submitted: October 2, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
This house is a gem: well decorated, clean, comfortable, and inviting. HOWEVER, what appears on this website to be a large side yard is now a huge, noisy construction project about 10 feet from the living room and kitchen windows. We wanted a quiet location where we could nap as we wished in the afternoons, but the noise from the adjacent lot made that impossible; even on the Sunday we were there, loud pumps ran most of the day. The owner never mentioned the construction in any phone call or correspondence since we reserved the unit over 2 months before. When we asked for a 25% refund the owner told us she did not feel it was warranted. We suggested she change the website photos and description to reflect the construction nightmare going on next door, but she has not done so weeks after we suggested it. Beware of misleading advertising for this property! J & R
