The property consists of 3 private homes and sleeps up to 16 people. Sitting on the single most exclusive location on the famous west end of Molokai, Manahale enjoys seven beautiful beachfront acres facing west towards Oahu. Starting down the private drive at the top of the property and winds down to the estate under a canopy of coral trees you end up at paradise. Check out our website for complete details at manahale-estate com
Front Yard: There is a greenhouse nursery and a tropical orchard to stroll thru. Be prepared for the early morning songs of the tropical birds in the old banyan tree to awaken you with their music. Enjoy lunch or a roasted pig in the thatched covered picnic area.
Back Yard: It might be a night or two to get used to the sound of the waves being so close. The pool and spa overlook the ocean with Diamond Head in the distance (keep an eye out for whales breaching during the winter months). From the back steps of the lanai, take the grass pathway down past the children’s playground and thru the coconut trees, to the beach. To enjoy the sunset and a glass of wine, there is a bench where the backyard meets the sand.
Lanai: The lanai features a covered spa and outdoor seating for a large group. There are several lounge chairs and patio tables located around the lanai. For your enjoyment, the pool is heated to 80 degrees and is the gathering place for family, friends, and your guests.
The property includes a main house, and two separate guest houses.
We just returned from a week at this beautiful house and miss it already. The house is large, comfortable and breezy. It is decorated with fantastic wood furniture and lots of local art. It felt like we were staying in someone's much-loved home. The pool and hot tub are an added luxury. Plus, the location can't be beat. We traveled all over the island and while there are plenty of beautiful vistas and welcoming beaches, Papohaku Beach stands out because of its 3 miles of sand and crashing waves. We often had the beach all to ourselves. We've traveled a lot and stayed in many vrbo homes around the world but we decided that this was our favorite vacation ever. We will be back!
Jim's home on Papohaku Beach is by far the most exclusive retreat and location. We had our small intimate wedding at this home and it was an incredibly magical experience. We rented quite a few of the surrounding houses for friends and family and the location of this estate cannot be beat. The home is gorgeous and feels how Hawaii should feel, relaxed, peaceful, paradise. The grounds are spectacular with exotic plants, lush greenery and tons of palm trees. The pool is gorgeous and it's so nice to have a hot tub. We swam in the ocean at sunrise every day and then took a dip in the hot tub and drank coffee. Our whole family stayed in this house and it didn't feel cramped at all. Everyone had their own space and loved the house. Ma'asi was so helpful and we barely noticed him, but he was there when we needed him.
This house was truly perfect for our wedding. We had the ceremony on the beautiful Papohaku Beach with our toes in the sand. All of our friends and family are so grateful that we chose Molokai and this home for our wedding because it was such a unique place that they most likely would have never experienced. We will definitely be back!
Imagine 14 women, reuniting to celebrate their collective 70th birthdays, trying to find the perfect spot for such a momentous occasion. Well, we found it at Manahale at Papohaku Beach on the island of Molokai. Without exception, we were thrilled with the accommodations. The property is lovely, the home luxurious but comfortable and roomy. The two additional cottages allowed us to have lots of space for sleeping and privacy, with the main house being our gathering spot. We enjoyed walks on the magnificent beach, swims in the pool, and just relaxing on the spacious lanai. The numerous amenities were as advertised and the owner a delight to work with. The four day/3 night stay surpassed all of our expectations!
Our 1st impression of the island of Molokai, driving from the airport to Mana Hale Estate after the sun had set, was seasoned with some apprehension. Then we went through the gates of the estate and that all melted away. We were greeted with beautifully landscaped and lighted grounds and a beautiful home. After settling in we enjoyed a fabulous dinner by Chef Gene Pike, while sitting under the stars and listening to the surf. The next morning we woke to a little taste of heaven. The ocean and beach just out the back door, across the lawn and past the towering palm trees. The ocean views are spectacular, the sound of the surf is calming, and the night time star filled sky is amazing.
Dinner the 2nd night was a succulent roasted pig that Ma'asi cooked on a spit he had built on the property. Chef Gene then cooked amazing dinners for us the next 2 nights.
Our party included 4 couples. We used the main house, guest house, cottage, pool, and hot tub. All the accommodations were wonderful. The kitchen was great, updated/modern, and had everything we needed. The home was clean and well maintained.
Jim and Ma'asi were very easy to work with. They were available to answer any questions.
The beach at the estate is beautiful but the surf can be too strong for safe swimming, but beaches to swim at are close by. The island has a lot to see and experience. But plan on starting early because everything closes early.
We came to relax, get away from our hectic and busy lives, and unplug. Mana Hale did just that with a little taste of heaven!
As the title states this was the most beautiful estate that I have stayed in on the Island of Molokai. Lets first start in front of the home. The entrance to the home was as beautiful as the pictures show. There was a long welcoming driveway that screamed home ad relaxation, away from the hustle of bustle of the world. As I entered the home it was just beautiful. Hardwood floors, pool, Jacuzzi, kitchen.... it was so welcoming and breath taking. We then made our way down to the beach that was just old Hawaii. No one for miles, no footprints, just my friends and family owned the entire beach. During the day there was always a nice breeze to cool you on the huge open deck. The coconut trees gave just enough shade to keep you cool and comfortable. I just cant explain how much we loved this home but just to say we are returning next year. Thank you for everything. Mahalo nui loa and aloha till next year.
We just returned from a 10 day stay at Mana Hale. From the moment we walked in, our extended family group of 11 was blown away. We felt like we had our own private family resort instead of just a nice rental house! This is an amazing retreat with a backyard right on a 2 mile sandy ocean beach where most days we were the only ones on it! The property is ideal for a large group with a main house along with separate one bedroom and two bedroom guest houses. Each has its own bathrooms and kitchens. Everyone fells like they have their own private villa. The main outdoor area is central for all with an amazing pool and hot tub. The outdoor eating area and grill are perfect for family meals overlooking the beach and ocean. The entire ocean side of the house is all sliding glass doors with screens. We left all of them open the whole time we were there and it gave a feeling of no difference between being indoors or out. We have rented other private homes in Molokai, Kauai, Mexico, California, and Florida. Everyone in our group (young and old) said Mana Hale was by far the best we have ever stayed at. If you are looking for a family vacation to getaway from it all and stay in a luxury private resort, I can't imagine a better choice. (Also the caretaker Massi makes sure your every need is taken care of with a typical Molokai laid back style!)
