Bring your entire extended family together in this warm, sunny hideaway located near pond and ocean in one of the nicest little corners of New England. Perfect for large families, family reunions, or families vacationing together, this large cottage was recently renovated by loving grandparents with a design that is perfect for family gatherings of up to 24 people! Includes a 3rd floor kids' dorm with single beds for 10, a bunk bed set for two smaller kids, TV/DVD/VCR and game area. Encompassing almost the entire first floor is a true 'great room' designed specifically for family gatherings. Surrounded by extra-large windows & french doors, with a huge skylight, this bright, airy room is tastefully decorated and adorned with many plants. With hardwood floors and rugs throughout, the Great Room creates four distinct gathering areas with sofas & chairs, game tables, and spots for reading, playing games or watching favorite TV or DVDs.

Shelter Harbor is a private, secluded community on a peninsula extending into Quonochontaug Pond, with small lanes that wind among the cottages. The views around the community encompass the east and west ends of the pond, the barrier beaches and the ocean, and Block Island off in the distance. * Magnificent, private ocean beach with lifeguards, located on a mile-long barrier beach. Drive your own car (5 minutes) or take the weekend shuttle van. Other means of getting to the beach are to bicycle, jog or take your kayak or canoe. * Walk or bike a few minutes to the private swimming area on Quonochontaug Pond, which has a dock, floating platform, and lifeguard. * Two private tennis courts in Shelter Harbor are reserved for usage by residents and tenants. * Walk or drive to fabulous Shelter Harbor Inn for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails on the deck, platform tennis. * Walk to private association docks for crabbing, fishing, boating.

The in-law apartment includes a second kitchen, its own private deck, plus a living room and private entrance. as well as one of the queen beds and bath with shower. Two picnic tables are on the downstairs deck and patio. There is a hot tub on the side deck. Available are a high chair and a baby seat, plus multiple baby gates, and a portable outdoor/indoor eight-panel play area for toddlers, croquet and bocce.

Take pleasure in the extensive flower gardens and the side patio with its hot tub, gas grill and tables for outdoor dining. The southern deck off the 2nd floor Master Suite is a lovely spot for the adults to meet for 5 o'clock cocktails while watching the still-energetic kids splash in the hot tub below. My family spent a wonderful, relaxing vacation at this home the summer of 2008. The house is large enough for even the biggest family with a great hot tub, wonderful decks for relaxing, easy access to the beach, three docks, tennis courts and a wonderful restaurant - The Shelter Harbor Inn - at the top of the road (a nice walk, if you want to earn your supper!) The owners were very easy to work with - always responsive and cooperative. Overall, it was a great vacation and I highly recomend this property!
