***Available Winter Season 2009-2010*** Peace and privacy on 5 acre hilltop in Brownsville . Southern exposure with all rooms overlooking Mt. Ascutney and rolling hills beyond. Open floor plan has a kitchen/ great room with fireplace and sliders to deck and view. Accented by rustic 4 inch maple hardwood floors. A huge kitchen outfitted by a chef with new appliances. Three bedrooms, den (sofa converts to 4th bedroom), two newly renovated full baths. A short drive down beautiful dirt backroads and country lanes to Green Mountain Horse Association and Woodstock. Ascutney Mountain skiing five minutes away. Killingtron and Pico approx. 45 minutes. Connecticut River canoeing and fishing, mountain biking, hiking, horse trails, snowmobiling and scenic drives. One of the prettiest drives, twenty five minutes long, leads down dirt roads past lovely horse farms, GMHA, South Woodstock and on to the Village Green in Woodstock. On some days, you'll see more horses on the road than cars.

Nearest Train: Windsor, VT at 5 Miles
Nearest Motorway: I-91 Exit 8 at 6 Miles
Car: necessary
On sunny days enjoy hiking at Mt. Ascutney state park, shopping and dining at Woodstock (just a 20 minute drive), canoeing on the Connecticut River, country drives along scenic roads, the Pico Alpine Slide (35 minutes), and Dartmouth College (30 minute drive). Also enjoy great golf at a number of public courses within a 30 minute drive. And horseback riding and the Kedron Inn in South Woodstock (15 min). On rainy days, there is lots to do. There are three museums nearby, St. Gaudens (20 minutes), the Cook Museum at Dartmouth (30 minutes), and the Montshire Science Museum (40 minutes), movies in Claremont (10 minutes) and West Lebanon (20 minutes), shopping in West Lebanon, Lebanon, and Woodstock, and best of all, on Saturdays, the antique auctions at Smith Auction House in Plainfield (20 minutes). And don't miss breakfast at the Brownsville General Store... but be there before 9:00.
