If you're looking for a reasonable, charming, and imaginatively decorated cottage with all the comforts of home, you've found it! You will not find a better deal in town. Bailey's is in one of Camden's quietest and most desirable neighborhoods, just a few blocks from the harbor, shops and restaurants. More affordable than a B&B and more relaxing!
The town beach is a short stroll away (beach chairs provided) and the cottage features a pleasant deck in the peaceful garden. The spotless, light and airy rooms feature cottage furniture and antiques. Accommodation includes a twin and queen room, a full bath and kitchen, living/dining room, and laundry facilities. We personally manage every detail & are close at hand if you need anyting. We are not a rental agency like many on this site! Camden is one of the most picturesque towns on the Maine coast, and combines great scenic beauty with surprising cultural amenities and sophisticated dining. We also have a sweet one bedroom cottage.
We had a glorious three weeks in Camden, and the cottage was great, the owners were fabulous to us, and the neighborhood was nice and quiet! We really enjoyed ourselves and it was the perfect place to get away from it all and come and relax. The cottage had everything we needed and then some! The kitchen was great - because the owners had such a stocked kitchen, we even baked a blueberry pie with fresh Maine blueberries! We didn't have to bring towels or linens with us, and having the washer/dryer in our (2-bedroom) cottage was just perfect for a 3-week stay. We definitely will be back! You won't be disappointed if you stay in this cottage.
We spend at least one week in Camden every year and have rented many different homes of varying sizes and locations. Baily's Cottage afforded us a very neat and clean in-town cottage only a short stroll to downtown Camden and the harbor. The owners were very easy to work with and live close by to ensure everything was to our liking. The back deck and yard is lovely.
My husband and I stayed at Camden Cottage (the one-bedroom Bentley cottage) for a week in mid-July. We have rented “self-catered” homes and apartments in Paris, London, and up and down the East Coast and this experience was among the best.
The cottage is on the south side of Camden, a pleasant 10-minute walk to the town, and a 10-minute walk in the other direction to Leyte Memorial Beach. It is surrounded by beautiful homes built in the 1800’s, most of which are exquisitely maintained and landscaped.
The cottage is old and small, and slopes noticeably toward one corner, but I have never seen a rental that was more thoughtfully equipped. The pretty bedroom is large and well furnished with a comfortable queen bed, good linens, a variety of pillows, good storage and plenty of good-quality hangers in the closet. The bathroom is small (the shower enclosure particularly so), but brightly painted with plenty of plush towels and a hand-held shower that is comfortable for short and tall guests. The living room with flat screen Dish TV and a café table for indoor dining is serviceable. The kitchen lacks a dishwasher (there are only two of you after all) but it is equipped with plenty of pots, pans, tableware, and more gadgets than my kitchen at home -- right down to kitchen matches, scissors and tape.
The owners are truly hospitable. I didn’t read the listing carefully and thought there would be a washer and dryer on the property. Since we had already been traveling for a week, we were desperate for laundry facilities. Although there is a very nice laundromat within a mile, they insisted I use the laundry in the main house. They have done everything they could think of to make a stay in the Bentley Cottage comfortable and are right next-door if you need anything.
Our first time in Camden. We stayed in the one bedroom cottage. It was like coming home(less the responsibilities )and a peaceful relaxing place after a long day of biking, kayaking, hiking, walking and shopping. A 10 minute walk down the hill to all the fine restaurants. The owners were very nice and accessible but not in your way at all. The property was quiet, clean and there was a helpful folder easily spelled out rules and answered any questions. Plus they listed area restaurants and sites to see. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Laite Memorial beach was picturesque and real close. On a rainy day we went to Owls Head transportation museum which was great. Mount Battie has a beautiful view of Camden and Penobscot bay. Olad schooner for a sunset cruise with wine and cheese from The Market Basket was real nice. Candlelight dinner in the cottage was nice too! Boyton McKay had a fabulous breakfast. Fresh, Atlantica and Waterfront were great dinners. Casual Cappys to Francine's or Nicole's for a more upscale experience. The breakwater in Rockland is a wonderful place to see the sunset. Suzukis for sushi was the best while you're there. However, one of the highlights for us was dinner on Northhaven island. Took ferry Equinox out of Rockland and ate a lovely organic meal at Nebo Lodge. Make reservations at the lodge online or phone. This was a phenomenal experience and John from Equinox ferry was the best!! We biked all over the surrounding towns and we kayaked in Rockport as well as Megunticook lake. We hiked mount Battie and Bald Rock Mountain and we did some wine tasting in Lincolnville at Cellar Door winery. So much to see and do. We will definitely return to Bentleys cottage. Home away from home!
Wonderful property! Clean, bright with caring and friendly owners who go out of their way to make you feel welcome! Cabin is an easy 10 minute walk to town or the harbor or the beach. There is a great deck that we used for all our meals. The location is supremely quiet!! It was so good we are coming back! We recommend this great cabin and its owners to you! its all good!
My husband and I and our dog stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage June through August 2010. The cottage was small and basic but comfortable, and the owner was onsite and very accomodating with any issues that arose. There is a nice yard area with decks on both cottages. Many evenings included other renters or the owners family eating dinner in the yard and enjoying the weather. Made for a very nice family atmosphere. We did not feel like visitors there; more like extended family. Perhaps the best feature is location. The cottages are on a quite street in a nice neighborhood less than 1 mile from Camden Harbour, the downtown area, and the beach. We walked to restaurants, shopping, the grocery store, post office, etc almost every night. It was wonderful. I walked the dog through one of the nicest neighborhoods in Camden every morning. Between the atmosphere created by the owner and the location, my husband and I felt like we had an excellent experience and have highly recommended the cottages to others.
Camden is a very charming and picturesque town, with an unspoiled harbor in a matchless setting. Whether you are a culture vulture, a shopping and dining hound, a nature lover, or all of the above, you will be very happy in Camden. It is perfectly located to enjoy the small towns and spectacular scenery of midcoast Maine. Our two bed and one bed cottage are located in a desirable neighborhood, just a short walk to Main St. and the harbor and will offer a tranquil and well equipped base from which to explore. A rarely crowded town beach is 3/10's of a mile away and the towns of Rockland and Belfast, with their many attractions are a short drive. Rockland boasts the world class Farnsworth Art Museum, with its impressive and diverse collections and hosts the annual Blues Fest and Lobster Fest. Be sure to take in the restored Strand Theater with its great live music and art films. Belfast has many galleries, shops and restaurants. Sail a restored windjammer in Camden, so much to do
