LIGHT AND AIRY MAISONETTE WITH AN EXQUISITE ROOF TERRACE IN MARYLEBONE

Marylebone House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom, 1 bathroom peaceful maisonette in connected and serene Marylebone

The Adventure of The Urban Retreat

The greatest Sherlock Holmes mystery is solved at last. Many a murderous mind has puzzled how a genius like Holmes found the peace and quiet despite the hurly burly of Marylebone to crack cases with such poise. Yet minutes from the great detective’s former front door at 221b Baker Street, this pristine maisonette on Ivor Place supplies the crucial clue.

The Case

Calm, gracious and bright, here is a space to think. Whether music is your opium, or the news your cocaine, indulge your habit on the host’s marvellous collection of antique wireless sets. To exercise the mind, a plethora of books and a hand-carved chess set; the fingers, an electric guitar.

The lady of the house has tempered our host’s gentlemanly leanings with a zen-like calm: alabaster walls, a plethora of pot plants, and, should your meditations keep you awake until dawn, she’s provided a mat upon which to salute the sun.

The Evidence

For true mental agility, sleep’s the thing, and Ivor Place accommodates up to four fine minds. Scrub away the city’s grime and soot in a beautiful, airy bathroom which, thanks to an L-shaped bath, you can admire from every angle.

Pace the gloriously light open-plan kitchen and sitting room, pausing only to admire the cool oak floors and high ceilings. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen, and, if you chose not to eat at the family dining table, you can repair to the terrace, to ponder amidst chimneys pots.

The Verdict

From Marylebone’s winding alleys to nearby Regent’s Park’s rose garden, Ivor Place nestles in the heart of Victorian London, surrounded by a scintillating selection of independent local shops, cafes and restaurants.

For sheer spectacle, The Landmark Hotel, with its extraordinary winter gardens and attractively-priced day spa centre, is just moments away. And when you want to hit fast forward into the twenty-first Century, Oxford Street is a short walk, while Marylebone train station is an even shorter one.

So there it is: calm in the middle of Marylebone. Case closed? Indubitably.

Notes:
A welcome pack will be provided on arrival and an iPhone will be available for you during the duration of your stay. Home truths: The immediate vicinity and neighbours are fairly quiet, so boisterous late night revelries are not on the cards (though, with Baker Street a mere moment's saunter away, there's no reason you can't take the party out on the town)! Please note the sofa bed in the double bedroom is a 'small' double and the bed in the single bedroom is a 'day bed' so more suited to a child. The stairs inside the home are steep and numerous, so this home may be less suitable for people with limited mobility. These same stairs are not suitable for toddlers or young children, although babies under one and children over six are welcome.
