Pimlico House Rental Photos and Description
2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home beautifully furnished with antiques and period pieces
Perhaps it’s the presence of the river nearby that’s meant Grosvenor Road II has become a well-watered idyll of all things floral and bucolic. A parlour echoing the height of Victoriana enchants, with its imposing glass-fronted bookcase, an original Adam fireplace with ionic flourishes, and a mahogany encased grand piano that demands a recital or two. Flowers, dried and framed, are to be found throughout the home, as are some more unexpected items, such as the 19th century cash register. Brushing past it might tempt you to leave this horticultural haven to explore the shops of Sloane Square. Or, should it be the season, the Chelsea Flower Show which plants its roots nearby.
Your amiable hosts are the parents of two grown-up children, who spend a lot of time in Bordeaux as well as London. The home’s distinctive tapestries and embroideries were completed by your needle-sharp hostess, who is also a keen gardener.
Moving up through Grosvenor Road II’s three floors, you’ll find that time has not stood still: the modern, wood-accented kitchen leading into a dining space that is framed by a large bay window.
And while you'll be tempted to perambulate through Battersea Park or the Chelsea Physic Garden, both minutes from your door, you’ll already be anticipating your return – up the staircases with landscapes in gilded frames and vases overflowing with paper flowers, to sink into a brass-framed bed, enveloped by quiet inside draped curtains.
About Owner / Property Manager
onefinestay gives you the chance to stay in someone's place while they're out of town. You get to live their life for a few days and nights.
Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room. And there's service to match.
Nobody wants to be a tourist, so our homes come with recommendations from the people who live in them. For everything else, we're here 24/7.
Why Owner / Property Manager chose Pimlico
Located southwest of Victoria and a short walk from Sloane Square, this is a less-traversed area which locals like to preserve for themselves. The slightly forgotten cousin of nearby oligarch-occupied territories, Pimlico's elegant Regency terraces and garden squares carry a slight melancholic feel not often found in fast-paced London.
It's the perfect place to dip into a post-war novel over a pint at the Orange, or head for a proper English fry-up at the Regency, all white tiles, hot tea and egg and chips.
Meeting locals is also easy, if you know where to go. Pimlico's farmers market is held on what residents call Orange or Mozart Square, an address not included in the A-Z but which is located on the corner of Ebury Street and Pimlico Road. Here Phil sells homemade pasta and Rich proudly presents his Essex oysters, only 15 minutes' walk from Harvey Nichols.
