This 5 bedroom home is in the quiet and private community of Shady Harbor located near the shore of beautiful Quonochontaug Salt Pond. Within 200 yards of the water, our home has a sunny view from the deck and many amenities. The fun of the salt pond is a short walk away for children and our access at Weekapaug Fire District onto pristine and secluded Quonochontuag Beach is a 5 minute drive away. The area has been recognized nationally as a great getaway destination and there is something for everyone within a short distance. Great golf, nature preserves and parks, the mansions of Newport, the carousel at Watch Hill and the aquarium at Mystic are available for those days that you choose to leave the sun and surf. The house is a raised Cape with 5 bedrooms that comfortably sleep 8 people. The area's cool breezes in the summer help to make your stay enjoyable even on the hottest days of summer and our spacious deck is a great place to share meals or to entertain friends.

Nearest Airport: T.F. Green Providence at 30 Miles
Nearest Ferry: New London at 25 Miles
Nearest Train: Westerly at 10 Miles
Nearest Motorway: Rt 95 and Rt 2 at 10 Miles
Nearest Beach: beach at 3 Miles
Car: necessary
Fishing, clamming, crabbing, sailing, windsurfing are all part of the fun here. A small community boat launch is around the corner and the pond has a 'kiddie beach' which is about 500 yards along the quiet roads from the house. We have 8 beach passes and 2 car passes to the Weekapaug Access for Quonochontaug Beach. The beach is located on Block Island sound, is about 2 miles long and adjacent to an uninhabited barrier beach and acres of pristine salt marsh. It is a protection area for nesting piping plovers and terns. Newport is about 35 minutes away, Providence 45 minutes, Westerly 15 minutes and Mystic Seaport about 25 minutes.

Our kitchen is modernized and the design of the house gives adults and children enough space to feel relaxed. For those who enjoy the water life, the clamming, fishing and swimming in the pond and ocean here are exceptional. Only 2 hours from either Boston or New York, the nearby town of Westerly has a vibrant arts community, a great library and restaurants serving good food without big city hassle. For those craving the city life, the many sights and sounds of Providence are a 45 minute drive away for those one or two rainy days of summer. We're sure that once you visit, you'll be looking forward to revisiting 'Quonny' and Shady Harbor for years to come!

Having spent 20 summers in this house with five growing children, I can attest to a great floor plan (3 bdrms and 1 bth up, 2 bedrms 1 bth down) for separation of children and adults; the lowest level has great space for children's music and congregating...so parents can have a real life, while teens are also enjoying socializing. The natural life and beauty of the area can't be surpassed.
