A modern holiday apartment for rent in Carcavelos, a charming little town in the municipality of Cascais on the Lisbon Coast in central Portugal. This sunny south-facing apartment is for rent with 1 or 2 bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people. The apartment is ideal for a couple or family looking for self catering holiday rentals on the Estoril Coast. The apartment's ideal location makes hiring a car optional. Carcavelos train station is only 10 minutes walk from the apartment and there's a regular train service to Cascais, Estoril and Lisbon. Carcavelos beach is one of the best beaches on the Estoril Coast and is just 20 minutes walk from the apartment. Six superb golf courses and the historic town of Sintra (classified as a World Heritage Site) are just a short drive away.

The apartment is thoroughly cleaned on changeover and fresh linen and bath towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels). Extra cleaning during your stay is optional and includes fresh laundry.

Outside

The veranda is the perfect place to relax with a drink after a long day on the golf course or beach. Alternatively BBQ yourselves some freshly caught Portuguese sardines or other local delicacies that you can find at the supermarket over the road.

Hi and welcome to my apartment listing! I lived in Portugal for around 20 years but moved back to the UK sometime ago. I still love Portugal and return whenever I can, but when I’m not using the apartment myself it’s available for rent. The thing I enjoy the most when I’m there is walking down to the beach, sitting at one of the cafes on the seafront and watching the world go by. I hope you like what you see but let me know if you have any questions.

Carcavelos is a great location with the best beach on the Estoril Coast. The apartment is just 10 minutes walk to the railway station with trains to Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais every 20 minutes.

The joy of staying at the apartment is that so much is within walking distance so you don’t need to hire a car. The beach, park, market, tennis courts, supermarket, station and restaurants are all a short walk away, while the excellent rail links with Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais and Estoril makes exploring the huge variety of sites in the Lisbon area a breeze.

Carcavelos is a charming little town with a quaint town centre and an assortment of cafés and restaurants around the church in the town square.

Carcavelos has a gypsy market on Thursday mornings, which is worth a visit if you're after some cheap clothes or shoes. The food market is walking distance from the apartment, but there's also a very good supermarket just over the road.

For water sports enthusiasts, Carcavelos beach has an excellent reputation for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Cascais, once a tiny fishing village, is now a thriving tourist resort with its own yachting marina. Cascais is just a fifteen minute train ride from Carcavelos and is worth a visit. Although now a large town, there's still a working fishing fleet based in Cascais Bay, and fish is still auctioned off to the hotels and restaurants every morning. The historic old town is full of charm and reminiscent of the quaint little fishing village of a bygone era.

Estoril is famous for its casino, ostensibly the largest in Europe. This old spa resort was the refuge of choice for various exiled royalty from around Europe and during the Second World War was a hotbed of espionage and intrigue. The spa is currently being restored to its former glory and Estoril also has an excellent, if somewhat small beach.

Perhaps the most popular tourist attraction on the Estoril Coast is the town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site made famous by Lord Byron, who stayed there for some time. Recognised by UNESCO as a cultural landscape of global significance, Sintra is famous for its architecture, magnificent palaces, impressive landscape, classic music and ballet performances, handicrafts and excellent restaurants.

Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal and full of monuments, museums and places of historical interest, and is only twenty minutes away by train. A tram ride through the Alfama (the old town), with its narrow cobbled streets winding their way up to St. Jorge's Castle, is certainly a trip to consider.

At Belém, just a few stops before Lisbon, there's the Presidential Palace, the Coach and Maritime Museum, the monument to Henry the Navigator and the 'Discoveries', as well as the Tower of Belém, the monastery of Jerónimus and the Cultural Centre of Belém, all within walking distance of the station!
