Beloved Family Vacation

5 of 5
Submitted: January 17, 2011 Stayed: August 2009
We can't say enough about our stay at the Schiffer's cozy and magical cabin. Growing up my husband and I vacationed with our families in Bolton Landing and we were looking for a cabin on the lake to create new memories with our toddler son.

All of our communications with Mr. Schiffer were incredibly helpful and delightful. He even provided us with wonderful suggestions about activities for us to do with our son and where to celebrate my husband's birthday.

When we arrived at the cabin we were thrilled that the cabin and the location surpassed our expectations. The Schiffer cabin was the perfect combination of rustic charm and comfort. It was immaculate and well stocked for our family making it very easy to quickly relax and get into a vacation rhythm. The deck became a favorite spot not only for fresh grilled dinners but also as a peaceful place for my husband and I to enjoy the beautiful lake and scenery when our son was napping or sleeping at night. The private beach was steps away and a perfect combination of having enough people there to feel welcoming but not overcrowded. The sandy beach was a very safe and accessible place for our son to feel emboldened enough to play in the water with us and we will forever remember this joy-filled afternoons.

Our time at the Schiffer cabin was so special that even though it was two summers ago, my son still speaks about the Schiffer cabin (as "his cabin") and asks us often when we can go back. A truly special place run by incredibly special people. We were only sorry that we could not go this past summer as I was very pregnant with my daughter and needed to be closer to home and we look forward to creating continued memories on our beloved lake at "our beloved cabin" very soon!!!

Beautiful Cabin in Beautiful Bolton Landing

We had a wonderful time when we stayed at the Schiffer's beautiful cabin on the lake, two years in a row. We found the cabin to be just as described in the listing. It offered everything we needed and more. We were able to keep our two young daughters and their cousins occupied with the nearby swingsets and beach. It was a great setting to get together with family and have a minireunion of sorts. We also enjoyed going into Bolton Landing for shopping and dinning, what a quaint and charming little town.

We traveled up from Maryland but are originally from the upstate NY area, so it was nice to be in a somewhat familiar area and be able to visit with local relatives for a day. Also to share some of the attractions with our children that we so enjoyed when we were children, such as the Magic Forest and Great Escape.

The Schiffer's are a very kind couple, we really didn't have any major issues, any contact we had with them was pleasant and enjoyable.

We would highly recommend this rental and setting to any of our friends and family.

We had a great time at Lake George. This cabin was perfect for our family and had everything we needed, was very clean and well maintained. The owners were very attentive and were extremely helpful in planning our stay. Meeting them was a plus! Our girls loved the beach and the playground and meeting the other kids staying nearby. It was so nice to just walk down the stairs and be at the beach. Everyone in the neighborhood was very nice to us. Bolton Landing was fun to walk around in and the location was very good.

We definitely would like to come and stay again. We had never been to this area before and really loved it. Thanks to Andy and Joan for a great cabin!

The Schiffer cabin @ Bolton Landing

Our L.A. family of 4 (kids 6 & 10) and sister-in-laws family of 4 vacationed here for a wonderful week in July. The cabin was 2 levels (each level had a separate entrance), very comfortable, charming & cared-for. There was plenty of room for everyone on each level, with one full bathroom on each level. The main kitchen was on the top floor, the lower level had a kitchen as well (sink, cabinets, fridge) -- (our only suggestion would be to add a second microwave downstairs.) Besides the cabin being beautiful, the location was absolutely fantastic for us --steps down from the cabin (or you can walk down the road) went to a private beach, with chaise chairs, playground, volleyball, and pingpong table for hours of fun and relaxing. Also just a short drive up the road were lovely stores/restaurants/ice-cream in Bolton Landing (loved the store called "Next Summer"!). NY was having a July of high heat/humidity the week we were in, so we lived in the lake! - and back at the cabin had the fans running at night. We enjoyed building a bonfire at the beach nearly every night with the kids. The Schiffers were lovely to rent from - they are truly blessed to have such a beautiful vacation home. We look forward to returning to Lake George again one day, and we would absolutely rent this charming cabin again! Thank you again for a wonderful week!

What a wonderful time our family had at the Shiffer's cabin on beautiful Lake George. The cabin was beautiful, immaculately clean, and charmingly decorated. Andy and Joan Shiffer could not have been more gracious. The proximity to the beach was a great asset, enabling us to enjoy the night sky - even viewing the Leonid meteor shower one night.

It's a great place for a family to vacation.
