Summer Haven is a little known area of St. Augustine - made popular in the late 1800's by the wealthy farmers who came to their summer haven to beat the summer heat. The famous Mellon family of Pittsburgh came in the 1890's and still owns The Lodge and The Hut, of now Coastal Living fame! We are bordered on the south by historic Marineland, the nation's first oceanarium. To the north, the Matanzas National Seashore, and 14 miles north, historic St. Augustine, our nation's oldest city. Many people come with lots of plans for things to do during their week here - but be happy just to catch one or two sites, and spend the rest of the time on our 43 miles of beaches! The Disney, Universal and Sea World madness is 1.5 hours away; Kennedy Space Center 1.25 hours away, and about 45 minutes to the NASCAR nuts in Daytona! A haven of wonder in the midst of all of Florida's excitement!
