Overview

6th Arrondissement St Germain des Pres Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Days of decadence

Stellar style

In this fast-paced and fashionable part of Paris, Rue de Vaugirard II pays tribute to the city’s extravagant past. All polished antiques, silk-shaded lamps and stately marble fireplaces, the rooms are classic and comfortable. In the sitting room, jewel-toned rugs and curtains complement the velvet sofas. The walls are hung with gilded portraits, and the jewellery box, set within the coffee table, is a precious heirloom. On the same level, there’s a grand dining room with seats for six around the walnut table, and the cabinets are filled with painted China and leather-bound tomes. Upstairs, there are two colourful twin bedrooms and a peaceful master, pairing honeyed-wood wardrobes with powder-blue accents.

The luminaries

Your hosts are a close-knit, creative family. Your host is keen on cars, your hostess loves to paint, and their children are sporty types. They all relish their home’s central location, near to smart squares and green spaces.

Past light

This home’s most welcoming spot is the master bedroom, where views from the Juliet balcony are framed by blue curtains and peach-bordered artworks colour the walls. The children’s bedrooms are more dynamic – the twin room has matching abstract artworks and well-stocked bookshelves, while the other has a pair of bunk beds and two secret writing desks. The kitchen is classic, with an impressive oven, and the contemporary bathrooms follow suit. And for those with refined tastes, Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a pleasing spot. The Jardin du Luxembourg is opposite this home, and on the streets beyond there are traditional markets, elegant boutiques and renowned eateries.

About Owner / Property Manager

onefinestay gives you the chance to stay in someone's place while they're out of town. You get to live their life for a few days and nights.

Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room. And there's service to match.

Nobody wants to be a tourist, so our homes come with recommendations from the people who live in them. For everything else, we're here 24/7.

What makes this apartment unique

Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room, with online payment and confirmation. You get the same attention to detail and personal service too.

Every home is properly cleaned before and after you stay, beds made (we can even do hospital corners) and bathrooms kitted out with luxury toiletries. There’s a maid service if you want it, as well as other hotel-style amenities.

Once we’ve helped you settle in, we’re just a call away, 24/7. If it’s something we can’t solve over the phone, we’ll pop over to lend a hand.

And because nobody wants to be a tourist, our homes come with personal and unique recommendations from the people who live in them – places to eat, things to do and adventures to go on.

Map

The past incarnations of this neighbourhood, from medieval village to existentialist HQ, are visible wherever you stroll, from scraps of pre-Haussmann architecture amid the arcing thoroughfare of Boulevard Saint Germain to a little square named after Sartre and de Beauvoir.

Scores of commercial art galleries remain of the midcentury scene that saw Boris Vian and Jean-Luc Godard hanging with philosophers at jazz clubs, and though the deep thinking hasn’t completely disappeared, it has been lightened with some serious shopping streaks.

For a hit of the area’s buzzing gastronomy, wander down the street market on Rue de Buci (check out the waiters in dungarees and gavroche caps at Bar du Marché), stop for small plates at no-bookings bar L'Avant-Comptoir, or dine at bistronomique Semilla.

The civilised streets are perfect for a post-lunch stroll on a lazy Sunday, weaving around students reviving after an arduous night in the basement bars of Rue Princesse and the American expats who make it their base due to the area’s comparatively laissez-faire yet glossy ambience. Even on the most mundane of weekdays, students from Beaux Arts and Sciences Po flirt on the terrace at timeless La Palette, Céline-clad oenophiles swirl fine claret at Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels and, yes, Juliette Gréco types still stare into their espressos at Café de Flore.

All this, and you're a short walk from the Louvre, the Tuileries and the Musée d'Orsay to provide some further cultural stimulation.
