Long Weekend Rental for 8

MLK weekend 8 of us from Boston rented this lovely log cabin. It was well sited and face a beautiful view of a small mountain about 2 miles from the snow covered lake. However, the JenAir stove burners would capriciously turn themselves off, and the left side of the stove would not light at all, a problem given the fact that we brought food and planned to cook gourmet meals between X- country ski escapades. We also had difficulty getting the satellite dish TV to work and could not make the cd/dvd player play cd's, despite being told that the cabin came with a music system. Also, about 40% of the light bulbs were burnt out. Also There was only room for seven to sleep as an upstairs loveseat converted to a cot sized mattress. The owner when contacted seemed to be flummoxed at the misfunctions and had no local help available, so I do not recommend it to other renters..
Owner's Response: Dear travelers, In response to this message, I would like to explain that there was a power outage due to a storm that caused some problems, which I immediately addressed- I had a technician go in to repair the range, paying $700 for the emergency services and parts; it had been fine before the power went out.The lady that does cleaning for me , who lives only a few miles away, found that there was no problem with the satellite tv; the renter was unfamiliar with use of the remote control, and had not looked at the instruction booklet. Concerning the dvd/ video player, there is one for viewing movies, but I do not advertise or have a "music system", and I had not discussed it with the renter prior to or after they came. The light bulb issue turned out to be some of the little candleabra bulbs in a chandelier with many bulbs, and one of the bathroom bulbs out of four; which were replaced. The sleeper sofa issue was one I had not been aware of- I had been given a new one from a relative, which they said was a double size, and It had not been opened; There has since been a rollaway bed there, and the couch is also very comfortable. I live only 7 miles from the cabin, and have adequate help, so I hope that anyone interested will call or write with any concerns, as I have had so many folks come who have enjoyed a wonderful vacation time. Teresa
