This brand-new year-round home sits in a prime location and offers exquisite views of Kennebec River and ocean, islands, Fort Popham and the tiny fishing village of Bay Point. The light-filled house boasts of Brazilian cherry and tile floors, fir wainscoting, paddle fans throughout, cherry kitchen cabinets, granite counter-tops, and Vermont Castings gas stove. The first floor consists of a bedroom with queen bed, full bath, beautifully equipped kitchen, living room and 10'x32' glass room overlooking the beach. Second floor consists of a full bath, master bedroom with queen bed and large front-to-back bedroom with four single beds - all with multiple windows and incredible views. There is an 8'x32' deck on street side of home and a 12'x32' ocean-side deck. The entire house is comfortably furnished and includes new appliances - washer & dryer, radiant hot water heat, gas barbecue, and much more. Drive-in two-car garage sits underneath the house.

Outlet shopping in Freeport is about 40 minutes away and Bath, Wiscasset and Brunswick offer fine restaurants, antique shops and various cultural events.

Popham Beach Family Getaway

Our family loved our getaway at this Popham Beach home. The quality, cleaniness and craftmanship of the home were outstanding and the views incredible. Our kids and niece (ages 4,6, and 7) loved being steps away from the sandy beach! Longer walks down past the point allowed for some great shell gathering (23 sand dollars and lots of others) and kid-friendly boogie boarding. It was so convenient being a short walk away from both Percy's (a general store/casual dining/take-out establishment) and Spinney's (a sit-down seafood restaurant with a take-out service). There was even the added bonus of "Flare Night" to celebrate the founding of Popham. The flares at the fort, the bonfire, and a firework display outside our windows were quite a sight! Thanks!

Loved Popham Beach

We rented this property on Popham Beach in June 2008 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is immaculate and extremely comfortable. It was just my husband and I, but the house could easily accommodate 6 adults plus a couple children. The location is slightly remote (approx. 25 minutes from the closest highway), but well worth the drive. The beach was beautiful, with lighthouses in the distance and seals swimming by daily. The beach never seemed to be crowded or loud either. If you're into fishing, you're in for a treat as you can stand along the shore and are almost guaranteed to catch something. Also, just steps away from the house is a small store (Percy's) that sells basic groceries (beer and wine too) and serves ice cream, sandwiches and breakfast, and a restaurant (Spinney's) that serves a delicious breakfast and dinner (lunch too, although we never made it over for lunch).

During our stay, we took daytrips to Bath, Freeport and Boothbay Harbor (about an hour long drive, but well worth it). If you'd rather just sit and enjoy Popham Beach, it's not a bad place to sit and relax! We hope to return to Popham Beach next year.

Popham Beach Maine House

We just sat on the deck or in the sun room and watched the wildlife go by...seals, ospreys and more. The walks on Popham Beach around the corner are long, restful, and interesting. The kids enjoy the fishing. Just a beautiful place! The extra hour drive ayat from Southern Maine is worth it. It's just not crowded. Anybody will enjoy the stay and hate to leave at the end.
