Not So Charming Cape

The ad for this rental (incl. the photo) wasn't accurate at all, as the beds certainly were not new. The beds on the first floor were stained, and the box springs under the mattresses were covered with hair, (hopefully human), popcorn kernels, and change (ie nickels, a dime, and a few pennies). The beds upstairs were less used, as the rooms were obviously re-finished more recently. However, the wallpaper in upstairs bedroom was peeling off, and had scotch tape affixed to it where someone tried to get it to stick back to the wall. The bathroom was dirty, as was the shower (no tub); and had no bath mat on the floor. The miniblind in the bathroom was also broken in several different places, leaving large gaps to see through. The light fixtures were hanging out of their sockets, with exposed wires clearly visible. The cabinets in the kitchen were broken, as a few of the drawers had no bottom. They were also very dirty. This not so charming cape is in dire need of quite a few updates, as well as a thorough cleaning. It is not well maintained, as the grass on the property was so long, you didn't enjoy being outside in the yard; the exhaust outlet from the furnace is on the side of th house that faces the bbq grill and picnic table. Barbecuing was okay until the furnace came on. Then the fumes would drive you back inside. So no, I would have to say the description is not accurate. The owner did not provide good customer service as he never returned calls about the garbage that wasn't collected when the prior renters left (in the barrels by the back door.) However, the trash was removed the day before we left, and the grass was mowed on the day we left. So at least it was emptied for the next renters....I absolutely would not recommend this property to anyone, much less a friend.
