Charming New England home, nicely furnished, 2 minute walk to white, sandy, private beach with beach attendants, raft, and restroom facilities. First Floor: eat-in kitchen, living room with TV and stereo, dining room, master bedroom, full bath, large screened-in front porch with additional dining area. Second floor: two large bedrooms, full bath and small room off bedroom with sleep sofa. The house has a private backyard with an enclosed hot/cold shower, perfect for sandy children. Large basement: washer dryer, additional bedroom with two twin beds.

Located in the beautiful and quiet 6th district, the house is about 20 minutes from the Navy Submarine Base, 10 minutes to Connecticut College and about 1 mile from Mitchell College. The District - New London's downtown area only 2 miles away- has galleries, restaurants and shops. It's a great place to come for coffee, lunch, or dinner, sit outside and relax watching the boats and the people.

The private beach - about a 2 minute walk - is yours to enjoy complete with beach attendants, raft, bathrooms and outdoor cold showers. The house has plenty of beach towels and extra beach chairs.

Bring your bikes or use the couple in the garage to get an ice cream cone at Michael's Dairy, sit outside at Fred's Shanty, dine alfresco at On the Waterfront restaurant all without getting in your car. The high speed block island ferry terminal is about about 2 1/2 miles away.It makes a great day trip with or without bikes.

We enjoyed our stay here while visiting our son during the holidays at the Naval Sub School in Groton, CT. The home is clean, comfortable, and spacious. PLENTY of room for kids. The price was very reasonable considering it was a holiday stay. It's close to just about everything. We went to NY, RI, MA, NH, and had a wonderful time sightseeing, tubing, walking, and eating.

Amy is very pleasant and she leaves lots of detail about the home and local activities and such.

Be sure and try Pepe's Pizza in New Haven (about a 40 minute drive).

New London, CT house/CGA grad

We used this house during Coast Guard Academy Graduation week in May. The description on the website was accurate, and the owner was helpful in letting us view the property on a visit to the academy in December. She also sent suggestions of restaurants in the area. The property was clean and well maintained - all the appliances worked and we particularly enjoyed the gas grill and relaxing around the large dining table. The house had plenty of dining areas for a large graduation party and the back yard was very pleasant. Having a full bath and bedroom on the main floor was helpful for elderly guests.We enjoyed the proximity to the Lighthouse Inn and kept an overflow guest there. He just left his car in the parking lot and walked back and forth to the house. We also enjoyed graduation dinner at Timothy's, the restaurant at the Inn. We had dinner at the picnic tables at Fred's Shanty, recommended by the owner, which was great and relaxing.I would also recommend Olio's in Groton. The beach looked great but Grad week is too busy/rainy/cold etc to really enjoy the beach. In fact, we used the heat in the house - some of the grad rentals didn't have heat because they are just summer rentals - those guests were cold most of the week.
The house is maintained more like a New England Beach Cottage than the Florida condos I am used to - you need to make the beds with clean sheets provided upon arrival and wash and fold the sheets and towels upon leaving. One of the dishwasher racks needs to be replaced.
We had a great time there, felt it was a much better deal than hotel rooms, really enjoyed relaxing with meals in the dining room and family conversation in the living room. I would recommend it to others.
