It is always a pleasure to return to this lovely home on Cape Cod. Alot of fond memories over the years. This home has a very special feel to it that gives me the sense that I am right at home - my home. Great spot with Hyannis Ferry, wind surfer and sailboat activity. See you next year!

GREAT VACATION AS USUAL!

  • 5 of 5
We have been coming to the Upwind for many years now and are never disappointed. The cottage is well equipped with all the comforts of home, and we thoroughly enjoy our time here. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need for both eating and drinking including a wine fridge and glasses. The views from the upper deck, especially at sunset should not be missed.

Whether we eat out at the local restaurants like The Lobster Boat or Captain Parkers or go to the local fish market and get steamers and lobsters to cook at home, we always enjoy the food. Taking in a Cape Cod League ballgame is always on our agenda as well as a whale watch out of P-town.

We would highly recommend staying here. We are already planning on returning next year!

BEST VACATION EVER

  • 5 of 5
What a fun week! The weather was beautiful, so we were able to do so much. We took a bike ride on the bike trails in Falmouth, including along the beach, with beautiful views. We went whale watching and visited the Whydah Pirate Museum in Provincetown. Both were great fun and excellent learning experiences. Another must is the Monomoy Island seal cruise. The captain was entertaining and informative. Other stops we highly recommend were the lavender farm, Scargo Tower, Museum of Natural History on the cape and Fenway tour, Charles River Duck tour, Freedom Trail, and street performers at Quincy Market in Boston. Thank you for being so welcoming and helpful. Your home is beautiful; we especially enjoyed your extra special touches - like the freshly cut flowers in the bedrooms. We had everything we needed for a week of fun and relaxation! Thanks! ~The Hicks and Bennett families

AUTHENTIC, GREAT LOCATION & AMENITIES-PLUS

Authentic, great location & amenities-plus
  • 5 of 5
Brian and Gail certainly know how to throw out the welcome mat! Their hospitality and special touches in their authentic Cape Cod beach cottage made this the perfect vacation for us, our adult children and granddaughter.

The owners really have thought of everything a person might need when staying away from home a week or more at the beach - from the beach towels, totes, toys and chairs to their fully equipped kitchen to a well-stocked library of books, games and DVDs for those rainy days or evenings when you just want to kick back.

The upper and lower decks, as well as the rooms, have excellent views of sea and sand. Everything was charmingly decorated and very clean. We loved the experience of the outdoor shower and took advantage of the cottage's great location, enjoying the shopping in Hyannis, taking the nearby ferry to Nantucket and exploring the National Seashore.

The needs of our toddler-aged granddaughter were also considered. The owners supplied a high chair, crib, stroller and child's cup and plate.

We'd do it again in a heartbeat, and would highly recommend this property. Mark and Karol A.

FANTASTIC PROPERTY IN A GREAT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
We have used properties on HomeAway a number of times over the last 10 years and this is by far the best one we have stayed in. It is a very well appointed property with great amenities and everything you need for a relaxing beach front vacation.

The owners Brian and Gail are extremely hospitable and have created a property you can really feel at home in.

West Yarmouth itself is a good location as a base for exploring the whole Cape with Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard a short ferry journey away, making for great day trips. Hyannis is a short drive (less than 10 minutes) offering good restaurants, shopping, boat trips etc. It is easy to see why the Kennedy's made this their summer retreat.

We have wanted to visit Cape Cod for a number of years and it didn't disappoint and Upwind was perfect for our first visit. We are sure to be return visitors.

CLEAN, WELL-EQUIPPED HOUSE IN PERFECT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Upwind provided the perfect location for our week in Cape Cod. The house is clean and very well equipped, with great views across the adjacent beach and bay. We found it a real home from home, and took full advantage of unadvertised extras such as board games, beach equipment etc. Brian and Gail gave us a warm welcome and provided plenty of good tips for places to visit on the Cape.
Our week included whale watching from Provincetown, cycling round Martha's Vineyard, shopping and seal-watching at Chatham and jumping the waves on Marconi beach. The house is much more spacious than it looks on the photos - there was more than enough space for the 4 of us. Would thoroughly recommend this property!

GORGEOUS HOME-AWAY-FROM-HOME BEACHFRONT VACATION RENTAL

  • 5 of 5
I don't even know where to start with this review because our experience was so incredible on all fronts. You know when you read a bunch of 5 star reviews, and you're kind of skeptical? Well, don't be. This vacation rental is the real deal. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

First of all, let me start with location. This immaculately maintained home (and I say home because the owners live here when they are not renting it out) is a beachfront property, so you wake up to the lovely sounds and crisp, fresh air of the ocean. We had coffee/breakfast on the deck almost every morning if it didn't rain. We did not have perfect weather - in fact, there was a severe thunderstorm the first night, which knocked out one of the transformers on the street, causing the cable/wireless to go out and the television to stop working. The owners -- two of the warmest and thoughtful people you'll ever meet -- went out and replaced the flat screen TV the next day, just to get us up and running in the living room (never mind that there are additional TVs in all the bedrooms). They also got the wireless up and running after Labor Day BEFORE the cable company could send someone out to repair it! The owners really cared about us not having to worry about a thing, and that meant a lot to us. We didn't feel like guests, we felt like family. And did I mentioned the lovely welcome gift that awaited us when we arrived, including toys for our three children? These are the little touches that make an ordinary vacation experience such an extraordinary one.

This beautiful open-plan beach house (complete with wooden beams, exposed brick fireplace, wet bar lounging loft, and gorgeous chef-style kitchen) has everything: beach towels, sand toys, umbrellas, beach chairs, OUTDOOR SHOWER (which was amazing), inside spa shower (reflexology while showering, anyone?) beautiful lawn, upper & lower decks, the works. The owner's property is also a Certified Wildlife Habitat, which means you can enjoy your coffee while bunnies scamper in the yard and birds chirp happily around you. Doesn't that sound idyllic? All you need to do is just show up and have a great, relaxing time right on the beach. We fished, we swam, we played on the beach, and all in all, we had a wonderful time. If there's inclement weather, there are a bunch of movies to choose from as well as a selection of board and video games. This beach property truly has it all. My family cannot wait to return. Spectacular! Well-deserved 5 stars!
