Things to Do::
From Ferry Beach in Saco it’s a short walk to *** Camp Ellis where the Saco River meets the ocean. At Camp Ellis there are two local restaurants, a bait & tackle shop, a mile-long jetty to fish from or just to walk on, a large dock with both fishing & pleasure boats in the harbor. You can also fish right off Surf St. in Ferry Beach at high tide or off the beach itself. The tackle shop in Camp Ellis is on the dock area. Camp Ellis is a 'Fishing Village' area now dotted with newly-remodeled homes and some of the older ones still here. It is still an active fishing area for commercial lobstermen & fishermen. You can go over to the dock and watch both fishing vessels and pleasure boats. Nearby is the Camp Ellis General Store which features daily lobster catch during season & will cook to perfection while you wait and also serves a great breakfast. You can also buy lobsters directly from the lobserman, Dean Coniaris, the Fishn Optician at “boat prices”. You’d have to cook them yourself.
Camp Ellis in Saco is still an active fishing area for commercial lobstermen & fishermen. You can go over to the dock and watch both fishing & pleasure boats. There are tour boats for sight seeing & sailing. This is a quaint areas, catering to families, with a sandy beach unspoiled by high rises, etc.
Whale watching boats leave from the dock at Camp Ellis. Kayak rentals nearby on the Saco River.
On Saco beaches, bonfires are usually allowed with fire department's permits.
