Late September on the Vineyard

What a wonderful late September stay on Martha's Vineyard! The Mermaid Boathouse was perfect for the two of us and our Shetland Sheepdog, Penny. We have stayed on the Vineyard perhaps a dozen times, but this is our first staying on East Chop. The Boathouse is small, but nicely decorated and well equipped. The deck is fantastic, and the view of Crystal Lake, the harbor and the sunsets is unbelievable. Thank goodness for 16 GB memory cards for the camera!
It is a short stroll to the East Chop lighthouse, and just over a mile to Oak Bluffs. A few minutes in the other direction is Vineyard Haven and such spots as Art Cliff Diner (breakfast) and Net Result for fresh fish. Bring your bikes.
We had great meals at State Road Restaurant, Slice of Life and The Lookout. Even better, sunset dinners on the deck - swordfish on the grill and lobster!
Overall, a very nice place to stay, and a great time of year to visit MV.
