BlueberryBlues is a three bedroom, two bath Contemporary located on a wooded lot near the West Chop Woods. Wild blueberry bushes carpet the land. Love of bluefish suggested the name BlueberryBlues. Four cultivated blueberry bushes are trying to root and provide fruit. A spacious wrap-around deck, veiled by rhododendron, surround the front and side of the house. Two bedroom and one bath are located on the first floor. The second floor is comprised of a third bedroom, bath and loft with private deck. All rooms open to the great room. With three sliding glass doors and cathedral ceilings the ambiance is bright and airy. Kitchen and laundry appliances are all new including flat-top stove and front loading washer and dryer.

Stockade fencing around the back yard ensures privacy for you and safety for children. Lets you relax while they play. The murals in the 'Fish Room' of the 'Blueberry Bluefish' a mermaid and many denizens of the deep were created by island artist Enos Ray.

Other works of his are located inside and outside the house including the number sign at the end of the driveway! For those who barbecue there are both gas and charcoal grills. Umbrella and patio furniture for six make for comfortable outdoor living on the deck. Kids can enjoy lunch or play games on the picnic table in the back yard. Your family will find BlueberryBlues a comfortable restful and playful place to vacation.

The town of Vineyard Haven with the ferry, shops, movie theatre, library, restaurants, and Owen Little Beach are less than a mile away. For those who like to hike and bike this area is perfect. The West Chop Woods 0.1 mile away is a lovely area to explore with trails and winding paths. If you'd like a daily walk or jog, the West Chop Lighthouse is a mile down the road. There's a one mile loop at the end of West Chop and then it's a mile home. On the loop is an ocean park where you can stop and rest or watch the sunset as the ferry sails by. The Beach at Lake Tashmoo is located a mile down a dirt road. It's a wonderful family beach for swimming or fishing. Lake Tashmoo is a safe area to practice your kayaking skills before you head out into the Atlantic Ocean. Within this same mile radius you'll find Mink Meadows a nine hole golf course. During the summer months the Vineyard Transit Authority has a bus that will pick you up at the end of the street and take you into Vineyard Haven.

My cousins and I rented Blue Berry Blues to make attending a family wedding that much more fun, convenient and affordable than simply booking a hotel room. The house is superb, with so many ameneties. We were so comfortable there that a couple of nights we just stayed in and enjoyed the deck and back yard. Kathy was so very nice and made us feel right at home during our first visit to MV! The neighborhood is nice and quite, and a very short bike ride to downtown Vineyard Haven. We would definitely recommend Blue Berry Blues to our friends and hope that we will be able to stay here again the next time we visit the island! -Ian

Love it, love it, love it!

This was our first stay at BlueberryBlues, and we are already talking about going back. In fact, we did not want to leave! Kathy, the owner, is a kind woman that treats you like family. She takes great pride in her home, which has lots of character and great custom artwork inside and out. The location on the island is fantastic! It is in northern Vineyard Haven, close to center of town, but in a nice quiet residential neighborhood that is very private and peaceful. Great yard for the kids to play, great wrap around deck (with great flowers/decorations from Kathy), nice open and spacious intererior with lots of windows. We loved going to the beach at Lake Tashmoo which has both lake and ocean in one locations, beautiful place. We enjoyed the trek getting to that beach, on a dirt road carved out of the rugged forest, which puts your car to the test, this journey to and from the beach was an adventure that we and our children will never forget.

My family and I have been staying at Blue Berry Blues every Summer for the past 8 years. This is a great place to stay for a family as it's cozy, comfortable, clean and welcoming. My children think that it's our summer home and the owner is a relative. We love this house so much because its' just the right size for a family of 4 with a couple of additional guests. This year my family and I are visiting for 2 weeks vs the standard week and we're all so excited.

I wish this were our Summer home and hope one day the Owner will either will it to the family or sell it really cheap!! LOL.

In the mean time as we wait for either of the above, we will continue to visit god willing every Summer. It's a home away from home!!

Wonderful house!

We loved this house! We've rented several vacation homes in the past and this was by far the cleanest and most comfortable. There was plenty of room for six of us. We enjoyed taking the short walk into downtown Vineyard Haven and jogging the West Chop loop. The enclosed backyard was great for our kids. The house had everything we needed all week. We would highly recommend renting this home!

Our Island home

Our week on Vineyard Haven is the vacation we look forward to all year long. When we leave at the end of our week we sing our version of the blueberry blues. Our oasis in the woods provides us both outdoor and indoor space to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Vineyard and the quite natural setting we get in Vineyard Haven. Our family loves the grill and having two options and the ability to cook out each night lets us to continue to enjoy the outdoor space and save money while on vacation. There is plenty of space inside the house and there is always a fight over who gets to sleep upstairs. The house is comfortable and sleeps 10 without issue. Everyone gets to do what they love, go to the beach, be outdoors, shop, watch TV or enjoy the internet, this is truly a relaxing vacation that has something for everyone. We are back again this year!!!!
Owner's Response: Your gang will have to record that BlueberryBlues tune! I don't think I've ever heard it?! Your cooking is the best. I've just starting using the grill. I think I need some recipies. It warms the cockles of my heart to have "family" returning. The 4th of July is the perfect time to be here. I'll be around to referee the fight for the loft.
