Partridge Hill - A perfect place

My family and I have vacationed in the Acadia Park area for 30 years. We live in Maine, but are far from the coast, and we always head for the ocean when we can. In the beginning, we would camp in the National Park and explore all that the Maine seacoast had to offer from our campsite. As we aged, the Maine coast still inspired us, but comfort became a part of the equation. Consequently, we have rented many places over the years with mixed reviews.
When we contacted Katherine concerning Partridge Hill we explained that quiet, privacy and close proximity to the seashore were very important. She responded that we would not be disappointed. Traveling down the narrow, tree lined lane we could see glimpses of the tidal inlet off to the left. The cottage itself was on a small knoll tucked into the trees on the right. The area around the cottage was well cleared to let the sun and nature's sounds in. The cottage is fairly new and it was as clean and inviting as anyplace we have ever stayed. Except for food and our belongings, everything that we needed was provided. Our day started with a walk up the lane with our dog. (Pets were allowed with prior approval). We spent the sunny days exploring Acadia Park, particularly Seawall, where you can tidepool, picnic or just sit and take in the ocean. Seawall and surrounding area including some great short nature walks were only a 15 minute drive away, so that even though we were in our own, private spot, we could go out in the evening after dinner to stroll or sit by the open ocean. Going out wasn't necessary however. We were quite content right at the cottage - especially in the evening. Loons called from the inlet every night. We heard owls and all the other night sounds you would expect in the coastal country.
There are a few restaurants in the area that are quite close and were great in terms of food and price. Because you are situated on Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor and other attractions are close by which worked out well on a rainy day.
Katherine was great and attentive and Partridge Hill was a wonderful spot for us. I would recommend this property to anyone that is looking for a quiet spot in coastal Maine. It has been a few months since our vacation and we are still talking about the place. We are already planning to go back.
