WONDERFUL GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
this house was perfect for our hiking vacation. close enough to the trailheads and ice cream breaks, yet far away from it all - no traffic noise, private, gorgeous. the owner was responsive, communicative, and provided a personal touch. when we return to Acadia, we hope it's available again!

QUIET, BEAUTIFUL, AND CONVENIENT!

  • 5 of 5
My husband, dog, and I had a wonderful stay at this home this Summer! The house is just steps away from Somes Cove on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island. If you like quiet time, cooking and grilling at home, exploring the rocky coast, and enjoying peaceful scenery, this is the place for you. The house has a TV, everything you will need in the kitchen, towels, linens, and even lobster pot and crackers! The house is modern with a rustic feel, and kept pristinely clean. Kathie and Kurt are right down the road if you need them, but give you plenty of privacy. We absolutely hope to rent here again!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your glowing review! Future guests, please note that due to the digital conversion, the TV mentioned does not always get channel reception. We keep a varied collection of movies on hand, and you are welcome to bring your own. It plays VCR, DVD, and even music CDs. With the ocean and woods so closeby, you will be spending most of your time in the great outdoors, but the house is a cozy evening retreat.

FANTASTIC STAY AT PARTRIDGE HILL

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at Partrdige Hill for one week this summer and had the best time. I cannot say enough of Kathie's hospitality - including local goodies, guides and pointers for our stay. Plenty of guidebooks, but also detailed information on everything you need to know about the property while you are there.

The house itself is immaculate and not a detail is missed - it had all of the amenties of home, and was spotless. It is in a beautiful setting that feels very private with a cove across the street for exploring and tidepooling.

The quite side of the island was the perfect place for our stay and while we'd hiked on the east side of the park before, we really got to enjoy the west side of Acadia including Flying Mountain and Beech Mountain which were both right down the road. Also, there is a great farm stand on the way to Beech Mountain to get fresh veggies.

All in all a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: The "back" side of the island, as the locals call it, has some of the best features of Acadia National Park without the crowds. Less populated and a little bit wilder than its counterpart, it is the reason we love and live in this area. We were so glad to share our spot with guests as wonderful as this couple. I think their dogs had a fun vacation as well!
Thank You!

WONDERFUL HOUSE FOR A RELAXING GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
The property was just as described with one exception, which should be more explicitly promoted: it was absolutely spotless! Truly, one could not find even dust lingering on the hard to clean areas of a house. The design of the house is fantastic with tall views of the evergreens and glimpses of the ocean that surround the property and provide lots of privacy. The layout is open and very comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are well appointed (Kathie thought of everything). The house is located on a private street with only 3 other houses very far apart (you can't see any neighbors from the house); we definitely felt like we were staying in the woods and had the place to ourselves. In short the house is wonderful and promotes a very relaxing stay.

Kathie, the ower and property manager, was very pleasant to work with in booking our stay and throughout. She clearly takes pride the property and wants her guests to return.

My husband and I especially enjoyed having access to the ocean right across the street. We were able to rent a kayak for multiple days and launch whenever we wanted. Sunset and early morning trips were wonderdul and Seal Cove is within a very short paddling distance of wonderful harbor seal viewing. Our dog especially enjoyed the beach combing.

Last, this was our first stay in Seal Cove. I would definitely return to this side of the island for the calm and tranquility even during peak season.

Thanks Kathie for sharing your home. We will definitely be repeat customers.

WHAT A WEEK!!

  • 4 of 5
Came to Seal Cove and Partridge Hill and got so much more than we expected. My son gave us the "heads-up" about this gem and our group enjoyed relaxation, hiking, biking and shopping in Bar Harbor and enjoying all the wonderful amenties of the area. Walking out to "the island" at low tide was phenomenal. Hope to come back again for another week. Our weather was fabulous. Thanks to Kathie and her sister for sharing this little piece of heavan with us! Carol, Tom, Pam, Nelson, Linda, Bella and Jackson.....from NH.

BEAUTIFUL LOCATION ON QUIET COVE

  • 5 of 5
Our family of four (with two teenagers) stayed here for a week in late June. It was everything it was advertised to be! The house was attractive, comfortable, and well-equipped. It felt very private. The house is on the west side of the island, which is the quieter side. It was on a private dirt road with no other houses in sight. It was just a short walk to the cove, which we could see through the trees. We spent hours down there. When the tide was out, you can walk quite a distance around the cove and out to a small barrier island. We saw lots of bird life (eagle, osprey, pileated woodpecker, etc.) as well as a group of harbor porpoises well we were down there. Our kids both swam in the cove, although it was cold! There are places to hike, swim, eat, and shop within a 20-minute drive all over the west side of the island. The east side of the island is only half an hour away. The owner was friendly and helpful and very respectful of our privacy. We will definitely return if we get the chance.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have such a nice family here to kick off our summer season. June is a great time to visit here, with the weather still cool and the island not too crowded.
I am glad to know that the tradition of a bracing ocean dip is still carried on by the young folks! I spent many happy hours at that cove when I was a kid. It is gratifying to be able to share our family's little slice of heaven, especially with people who are so enthusiastic about its offerings.

Notes:
Everything you need to cook-in, including a lobster pot. Path to private cove, can launch canoe or kayak at mid to high tide. Watercraft not provided, but bring your own or use rental locations nearby. Fresh and salt water boat ramps nearby. Because of high decks and lofts, our house is not suitable for toddlers. It's great for older children and the young at heart, with woods and shore to explore. Private roads, great for walking and biking.
