Notes: Everything you need to cook-in, including a lobster pot. Path to private cove, can launch canoe or kayak at mid to high tide. Watercraft not provided, but bring your own or use rental locations nearby. Fresh and salt water boat ramps nearby. Because of high decks and lofts, our house is not suitable for toddlers. It's great for older children and the young at heart, with woods and shore to explore. Private roads, great for walking and biking.

wonderful getaway!

this house was perfect for our hiking vacation. close enough to the trailheads and ice cream breaks, yet far away from it all - no traffic noise, private, gorgeous. the owner was responsive, communicative, and provided a personal touch. when we return to Acadia, we hope it's available again!
Owner's Response: These guests were a pleasure to have here, and I hope to see them next summer.

Absolute Heaven

StephT Philadelphia, PA
Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was one of the nicest vacations we have ever had. We have stayed in Acadia many times but usually in campgrounds. This year we wanted to be a little more off of the beaten track - we always gravitate towards Seal Cove anyway - and this was a great spot.

Nicely appointed, this was a very comfortable place to vacation. We watched great sunsets from the loft bedroom, cooked some great meals in the kitchen, greatly enjoyed wandering along the cove mere yards from the house, and fresh flowers in every room made us feel very pampered indeed.

Our Labrador Retriever also enjoyed the stay. Nicely off of the beaten track but easy access to everything you could want including great lobster and for me daily 5 mile runs of rolling hills.

Partridge Hill - A perfect place

northblood Fryeburg, Maine
Review Submitted: July 12, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My family and I have vacationed in the Acadia Park area for 30 years. We live in Maine, but are far from the coast, and we always head for the ocean when we can. In the beginning, we would camp in the National Park and explore all that the Maine seacoast had to offer from our campsite. As we aged, the Maine coast still inspired us, but comfort became a part of the equation. Consequently, we have rented many places over the years with mixed reviews.

When we contacted Katherine concerning Partridge Hill we explained that quiet, privacy and close proximity to the seashore were very important. She responded that we would not be disappointed. Traveling down the narrow, tree lined lane we could see glimpses of the tidal inlet off to the left. The cottage itself was on a small knoll tucked into the trees on the right. The area around the cottage was well cleared to let the sun and nature's sounds in. The cottage is fairly new and it was as clean and inviting as anyplace we have ever stayed. Except for food and our belongings, everything that we needed was provided. Our day started with a walk up the lane with our dog. (Pets were allowed with prior approval). We spent the sunny days exploring Acadia Park, particularly Seawall, where you can tidepool, picnic or just sit and take in the ocean. Seawall and surrounding area including some great short nature walks were only a 15 minute drive away, so that even though we were in our own, private spot, we could go out in the evening after dinner to stroll or sit by the open ocean. Going out wasn't necessary however. We were quite content right at the cottage - especially in the evening. Loons called from the inlet every night. We heard owls and all the other night sounds you would expect in the coastal country.

There are a few restaurants in the area that are quite close and were great in terms of food and price. Because you are situated on Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor and other attractions are close by which worked out well on a rainy day.

Katherine was great and attentive and Partridge Hill was a wonderful spot for us. I would recommend this property to anyone that is looking for a quiet spot in coastal Maine. It has been a few months since our vacation and we are still talking about the place. We are already planning to go back.

Comfort and Tranquility

George Edward Mendham, NJ
Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
If you are thinking about making reservations, this cabin on Seal Cove is a gem. This was a perfect get-a-way for our family. We were able to relax completely. It was private, quite, cozy, and accomodating. Minutes to Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor, but not too close.

True Maine Experience

Kathy, Kevin & Delilah S. Flemington, New Jersey
Review Submitted: July 26, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
My husband, a friend, and our dog all spent a week in July at this lovely house in the woods. Kathie keeps the house immaculately clean! The house is warm and inviting with cedar paneling thorough out. It does have enough room for 6 to sleep, but the living room is smaller and seats 4. It is located on a private dirt road which is only a few steps from a private cove. We saw loons swimming in the cove and we too swam in the water (cold of course, it is Maine). There are a few lakes with warmer water and places to swim located from 1/2 mile to 3 miles away. Kathie was available to answer all of our questions through out our stay. She left her phone number and called once to see how we were getting along. There are a handful of supplies at the house which are provided to you and there is also a small grocery store close by, you just have to take the dirt road. Don't miss Thurston's Lobster Pound located in Bernard for steamed lobsters! The whole experience was wonderful without any problems. I would recommend this house to anyone who loves the outdoors. There is a spiral staircase that goes to the loft where the master bedroom is. This could be a problem for people with mobility issues or small children. The other two bedrooms are located on the first floor. Absolutely outstanding house and experience!!!!
