Our 'Little Yellow Cottage' is a freshly remodeled, one bedroom cottage. It is located near the end of a quiet woodsy lane one mile from the village of Southwest Harbor. This sunny, light and airy home includes an efficient kitchen with separate dining area. Read, relax or watch TV/videos in the comfortable loft or bask in the sun in the private garden. Each room is tastefully decorated with an eclectic mix of new and antique furniture and artwork. Enjoy a collection of books to help you appreciate local features, history and nature. Walk to golf course, town, ocean or Acadia National Park mountain trails.

Adorable cottage!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Little Yellow Cottage. The house was "very" clean throughout and tastefully decorated. Jeannie and Kathe made us feel so welcome with all the little details they provided. From the extra fluffly towels to flowers on the dining table, everything made us feel like it was our home away from home. We will highly recommend it to our friends and workmates and definitely come back ourselves to the Little Yellow Cottage!

Perfect Getaway Spot

This was our first trip to Maine. We came to the Little Yellow Cottage to celebrate our 30th anniversary and were not disappointed. The cottage is private, spotless, beautifully decorated and well equipped. We absolutely loved it and hated to leave. If we are ever able to return to Mt Desert Island this is where we would want to stay.

I would definitely recommend this cottage. Jean was super helpful in answering our questions regarding the area.

We have traveled a lot but I think the Little Yellow Cottage was my favorite accomodation. We just felt so at home there.

This lovely cottage is beautiful inside and out, clean, well-equipped, close to the amenities of SW Harbor, but on a quiet road. The owners are friendly and full of excellent advice. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

Little piece of heaven.

From the very beginning, Jean, was so helpful with all of my questions, and very detailed with directions and instructions for the cottage. When I walked in, the pictures do not give it justice, as said by an earlier reviewer. There is a certain energy and ambience that the cottage had. You could tell the love and care that the owners put into making it a lovely, warm home. It was immaculately clean, had tons of lights, everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom and MORE. When I was out of a rain jacket and some flour, Jean was more than happy to provide. They were helpful in suggesting places to go, and I highly recommend Red Sky in Southwest Harbor as a restaurant. The food in Bar Harbor seemed to be overpriced.

The artwork and all the framed maps were amazing as well. Great as a romantic getaway. I looked forward to coming back to the cottage after a cold rainy hike and curling up with a good book. I didn't want to leave and want to go back! We were only there for three nights, but wanted more.

It was very affordable and I felt like I was being spoiled. I will come back to the little yellow cottage again I hope!

Great for a Honeymoon or any relaxing trip

Maine and MDI were our first choice for a honeymoon. And the fact that we found this gem was the icing on the wedding cake. You never know what you'll get when you book a vacation rental online. No worries with this place. Everything we could have needed was there. From kitchen items, to extra towels and blankets. It was peaceful and quiet and everything was clean and in perfect order. Even on the rainy days, the house was bright and cheery do to the wonderful decor and paint choices. We were only there two nights when we made the decision to try and make it back next year!

Even after looking around the island, we're sure that there is no better place to stay. The owners have done an amazing job of creating a relaxing getaway. Our only disappointment was that we had to leave. And if you're looking for a great place to eat, Head of the Harbor isn't too far away. We even walked there one evening. And the deposit was return within three days of leaving. We can't wait to get back to the Little Yellow Cottage! Thanks!
