2 farmhouses on a beautiful property with 12 acre stocked lake. First, the 'little house'... Renovated 100 year old farmhouse next to private lake stocked with largemouth bass, on a quiet country road. Huge porch with screens or glass; swimming and boat on premises. Secluded, hiking trails thru woods, beautiful old barn, blueberry picking, near Tennanah Lake golf, shops, great restaurants. 25 minutes to Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, 7 minutes to Jefffersonville, 5 minutes to Callicoon Center, 5 minutes to Roscoe. 2 hours and 15 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. The second house is larger, large family room, pool table, almost soundproof TV room, 3 bedrooms down, 2 up w/ lots of beds for kids. 2600 square feet. Picture postcard pretty and clean. Nearest Motorway: Route 17 and Stewart avenue at 7 Miles
Car: necessary
Swimming, bass fishing, hiking on premises. Tennanah lake golf (course designed by Sam Snead) 10 minutes away, close to Jeffersonville's shopping and restaurants, 15 minutes from Roscoe's shops and several excellent restaurants (casual and gourmet). Good walking/jogging path (1/2 mile) around our private lake, as well as 1 mile path around adjacent Lake Anawanda. Fun water park 30 minutes away with go-carts and long slides, batting cages, etc. Children's theater, summer theater in Monticello, apple cider mill in the fall in North Branch. We have croquet and ping pong table at the house. There are trails cut through the deep woods that lead up to a high pasture with long mountain views. Great spot for a picnic. Cool old barn with hand hewn beams and turn-of-the-century buggy on our place.

With 16 members of our family ranging in age from 8 months to 71 years we arrived for 10 days in what turned out to be our own private nature wonderland. The houses were comfortable and accomodated our family well. Most of our living was done in the larger house with one couple and several kids sharing the smallr house for sleeping.
The lake, though small was adequate for the kids and for the swimmer among us. We boated in the flat bottom row boat provided and fished from the shore and the gazebo. Although no large fish chose to take our bait, the kids got a great kick out of catching the litte fish and throwing them back into their natural environment.
Although we felt totally removed from civilization, the market and necessities of life were only a short distance away. Th owners provided excellent directions to towns and local attractions although we were content to just hang out on the property. The rasberry bushes were laden with ripe berries and picking and eating were more enjoyable activities.
Thanks to the owners for providing us with the opportunity to enjo such a wonderful retreat.

Wonderful stay for 3 generations

When our 15-member family arrived for a get-together, my first impression was: oh, what a dark and oldfashioned place! But with each day we liked it more and more! It was someone's home, who had kindly allowed us to share it for a week in July 2009. We placed the 7 grandchildren in the smaller house, while their parents and the grandparents shared the larger house. So there was as much peace and quiet as anyone wished. The grassy area was perfect for ball games and crockey, the sloping ground just right to place the garden chairs for watchers to catch the wanted degree of sun, the lake with its floating platform suited well the swimmers and the boat the fishermen among us. The kitchen was well equipped (even with one burner not functioning!) for our gourmet cooks. The only thing that could have been better: there should have been in each house an extra bathroom (or at least another WC) and more fish in the lake (our boys caught none large enough to eat).But we overlooked that and had a wonderful and memorable stay!

Amazing location, owner and houses!

I organized a trip to the lakehouses for about 17 people and every single person absolutely loved this place. The location is private, the houses are clean and cozy. Also, its right next to the lake which means lots of privacy but incredible space to spread out as well. We had no complaints whatsoever and even caught 3 large bass!
Owner's Response: I can't begin to tell you the pleasure I get knowing people are escaping the city and lolling around Buck Brook Acres getting the peace and rest everyone needs. The 3 big bass were an extra bonus-congrats to whoever caught them.

This group was wonderful and considerate, and I hope they will return again. Every year I hope to make our place better, with more activities, and 'nooks and crannies' on the property to explore.
