I highly recommend Cinco de Mayo! We were two families with 5 children between us and there was plenty of room in the house. It never felt crowded even if we were all in the kitchen/family room and the pool at the house was key (kids and adults loved this feature!!). The décor was impeccable and the house is in excellent condition. The kitchen is well stocked with multiple pans, pots, serving dishes and other kitchen accessories for cooking and serving. Views from the roof are perfect - you can see the ocean in every direction - and the location is very convenient to the N. Captiva Club. The beach is a bit further away than the club so we used the golf cart; golf cart was necessary and helpful for the beach and to reach Barnacle Phil's and the ice cream store. North Captiva is beautiful and provides a very special experience. The fact that there is so much nature and so much of the island is untouched and not commercial gives the vacationer a unique and relaxing experience. This trip is perfect for people who need to and want to relax and do very little. If you want "things to do" you might go a little stir crazy--they could ue more bikes, more accessible restaurants, affordable excursions and cleaner facilities at the club. Bikes were very big (our 6-8 year old boys were out of luck) and the one bike that worked for tots was never free. Barnacle Phil's was hidden - would be nice to have one more family friendly place restaurant (that's not Mangoes) with an ice cream store for kiddos. Excursions available from the island are prohibitively expensive. Might be nice to be able to book a boat to Sanibel or out to see Dolphins for a reasonable price. The facilities at the N. Captiva Club were a bit dirty -one day I would describe as filthy, so they should clean more frequently. Overall we loved our week at the island and especially at this lovely house, which I find hard to criticize! We were all relaxed and had fun -- and these were our number one goals.
