Our Sandy Pond Lake Ontario rental is directly across from the channel to Lake Ontario. Surround yourself with quiet and privacy in this 3-bedroom waterfront cottage on Sandy Pond, harbor to Lake Ontario, New York. Lake Ontario, NY is an ideal location for family summer vacations, Lake Ontario fishing, Salmon River fishing, or fall hunting trips. The cottage has plenty of room outdoors for the kids (big and little) to play. Lake Ontario beaches are kid friendly; fine sand makes great castles; tubes are welcomed. The sandy bottom of Lake Ontario gently slopes making for gradual depth and you can see your toes in neck deep water. Fishermen rejoice! The private 40-foot dock in front holds two Lake Ontario size boats and makes access to Lake Ontario, Salmon River and six feeder streams simple. Kids enjoy fishing for rock bass, perch, sunfish, and giant bowfins from the dock. There are boat launches at the five marinas on Sandy Pond, as well as on Salmon River.

You can river fish for king salmon, and steel head not only on the Salmon River but also on North and South Sandy Creeks, 2 - 4 miles away. Access the creeks on foot or from Lake Ontario by boat. For hunters, geese and ducks frequent Sandy Pond and many state marshes along Lake Ontario. Lakeview Marsh hunting area is 3,461 acres and is only two miles away. There are 29,034 acres of state land nearby for hunting deer and turkey. The evenings are especially beautiful at Sandy Pond. The pond comes alive with breaking fish looking for dinner and honking geese and quacking ducks heading home to roost. Great Blue Herons often show up for an evening meal on Sandy Pond! Everyone enjoys evening sunsets by the campfire near the waters edge. Marshmallow roasting is optional.

Swim at Southwick Beach or Sandy Pond Beach, both on Lake Ontario. Each is clean and has facilities. Southwick has a playground and picnic area. Across Sandy Pond is a huge sand dune that lies between Sandy Pond and Lake Ontario. The Nature Conservancy owns the sand dune. They protected it with beach grasses and a boardwalk that allows foot traffic to pass from the Sandy Pond side of the dune to the Lake Ontario side. A bird sanctuary has been established north of the main beach. With a boat you can motor over to boaters beach and enjoy the fine sand and seemingly endless Lake Ontario beach. The Sandy Pond side of boaters beach drops quickly and many people water ski from there. The Lake Ontario side gently slopes making for gradual depth, which is great for swimming. Boaters beach is truly special.

The Beach, the Fishing, the Views-all fantastic!

My goodness, our stay at this place was truly spectacular, my wife loves the beaches, the kids loved the water and I love the fishing. We have never been able to find a place with so much diversity that it can keep everyone in our party happy, but we have now! Our wives love the miles of secluded beaches, they are very quiet and uncrowded with very nice sand, they also like having a clean, complete kitchen with plenty of room for all the stuff so we can stretch out and enjoy a vacation. I like the great fishing and the docks right in front of the cottage, just wake up in the morning walk 50 feet and jump in the boat an go, none of that driving to the boat launch and wait in line while the fish are biting stuff, those days are over for us. The kids have alot of fun playing in the surf, watersking and tubing. We also enjoyed the local restaurants a couple of nights and the great scenery we took in on the couple of day trips we took. The Thousand Islands and Watertown are wonderful day trips not far from this great clean home-base. Our host were very sure we had everything we needed and were quick to offer tips to help us enjoy the area without wasting a lot of time. It was such a pleasure to come in from a day out and throw something for supper on the grill and sit back with a drink and watch the sunset over the water, so peaceful, quiet and relaxing. We will be back year after year now that we have found a place we can call home away from home!

First Timers (salmon fishing)

Guys, if you need a get away. This is the place to go. My friends and I went Salmon fishing for the first time and stayed at this cabin. When we arrived Dave and Ann were there getting things ready for us. We were impressed. Dave gave us a couple pointers and showed a couple hot spots to catch salmon. Needless to say. We caught our limit our first 2 days.
As for the Cabin, we could not ask for anything more. It was perfect. Lots of room, very clean. Everything you need is here. Don't forget your boat. The lake is right there.
Can't wait to go back this Oct. and many more after that.

A great vacation

I would recommend any of the 3 cottages these folks have to offer. We stayed in the duck blind cottage pictured above, and we had an amazing time. Dave and Anne were there to great us when we arrived and make us feel at home. Great people to do business with!!! The cottage was clean and well kept. Our neighbors were fantastic, and the description of the cottage was exact!! we were close to many other things to do including sacketts harbor, resturaunts, many choices of beaches, etc.The pond had an amazing sun set every night and the fishing was great. There were 5 different arenas for boat rentals. I plan on using Dave and Anne on a yearly basis for vacation. I would reccomend these cottages to anyone. There is no place lake sandy pond/lake ontario, and these folks make it that much more worth while.
