Very disappointing

We have rented several homes before so we knew what we should bring and what to expect. The listing did not clearly differentiate what is on the 1st floor versus the 2nd floor and noted several things that were either not there or not operational (i.e. pool, hot tub, stove, charcoal grill) and the fridge and microwave were barely working. The owner did not disclose this information prior to our arrival. The kids were disappointed about no pool and non-working hot tub and we were upset that we had pre-made casseroles to get us through the week and the stove didn't work. Then she asked for the balance plus the deposit - the deposit had been mailed 2 months earlier (and she had cashed it). The house was large and roomy but not very clean (sticky floors, dust on top of eye level cabinets, used soaps, hairbands and razors lying around, etc.) We knew it was a historic house but the electrical wiring was very old and we blew all the fuses with her microwave - which had only a few working buttons. Extension cords were used extensively along with dangerously exposed lamp wires. Several closets were filled with old A/Cs, luggage, and other undecipherable items. The "exercise" room is a small sun porch with non-working stepper. The neighborhood is being "revitalized" so there are nice houses next to boarded up houses in disrepair so the so-called safe, secure neighborhood is subjective. Although the rooms were large, most of the amenities were over-exaggerated. The Niagara House has a lot of potential but until some key things are addressed, I wouldn't recommend it.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay and the property did not meet your expectations.
We work very hard to make everyone’s stay as enjoyable as possible and to accommodate everyone’s needs. At any time during your stay, you will have a phone number to call and someone will arrive within an hour to address your concerns.
We have done several renovations at the property past winter and have updated all outdated appliances. For your safety, hard-wired fire alarm system has been installed.
As far as the safety is concerned, it is the safest area of Downtown Niagara Falls to be in.
