Wonderful home in the Adirondacks

My family of 4 adults and a 10 & 12 year old just got back from a wonderful week spent at Tim and Claire's lovely home. It is well equipped, and very comfortable. We spent many of the hours we were not outdoors in the screened in porch on the house. And we were welcomed with a spectacular view each morning. We spent many hours pouring over the Adirondack periodicals and magazines left there by the owners. There are also games and books as well. There was plenty of seating outdoors with chairs and a few lounges. We lugged up a few lounge chairs of our own, but only got them out to justify having brought them. There were even S'more sticks!
We have stayed at several other rentals in the Adirondacks and it was such a pleasure to not have to walk up and down a steep hill to get to the dock and waterfront. It was very easy for the kids to get into the lake and swim. The added bonus was we could keep an eye on them from the house. There is also a boat launch right next door as well. Very convenient! We became mildly concerned about a bit of noise from it over the weekend, however, as we suspected, it was very quiet during the week. The lake is small, but the kids were very happy with the time they spent tubing on it. The water was perfect to lay on a float and laze away on a hot summer day. The lake did not have a lot of traffic during the week as well.
The owners also have left a wonderful "resource bin" full of take out menus from the area, and a write up of their favorite spots in the area. We explored a lot of their suggestions and were not sorry.
Wells is a wonderful and very friendly community. My brother and I are amateur photographers and our family also likes to hike. We had plenty of opportunities to do both within a 15 minute drive of the house. We drove up and down the roads that parallel Route 30 and found some really neat areas to explore. There is also a great used book store within a 5 minute drive of the house and a really cool coffee/gift shop nearby as well. Speculator is very close by and has a small grocery store There are also several restaurant options there as well. We had a lovely dinner at the Speculator Inn.
It was such a great week spent there. Claire was so helpful prior to the time we went up answering all our questions. Thank you so much for renting out your wonderful home. We still wish we were there!
