LAKE SUPERIOR LOG HOME RETREAT

Beaver Bay House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 1 loft with 2 full size beds, 2 full baths, 1 half bath, sleeps 8

Our Lake Superior Retreat was built in 2003. It is a fully furnished log home in Beaver Bay Minnesota. Situated on a fairly secluded wooded 4.1 acre lot with 254 feet of lake shore. Every room has a view of Lake Superior. You will find that the warmth and coziness of the hand-hewn log interior, the openness of the vaulted wooded ceiling, the Lake Superior field stone wood burning fireplaces and the casual elegance of hand-tied oriental rugs on hardwood and ceramic tile floors through-out the whole house, will offer you a place to relax and enjoy the peace and serenity that our home has to offer during any season. It is our pleasure to share our rustic yet very elegant home with you. There is nothing else like it on Lake Superior. You will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The main floor has a large foyer with slate flooring.

The great room has a natural fieldstone wood burning fireplace and french sliding doors leading to a deck which runs the length of the house over looking the lake. A dining room and fully equipped kitchen, and a mudroom off of the kitchen. On the top floor we have the master bedroom with large glass doors leading to a deck giving you a panoramic view of the lake and master bath with a jacuzzi, as well as the loft which over looks the great room below, where our children like to sleep on aerobeds. The walk-out lower level has ceramic tile through-out, a field stone wood burning fireplace, two bedrooms, a full bath and a laundry room. There are sliding french doors leading to the brick patio under the deck. We have ceiling fans in every room, and in floor heating. We think you will enjoy staying in our home so much that you won't want to leave.

Jeff and I bought the property in 1998 and built our log home sanctuary is 2002-2003. Jeff is a rheumatologist who gave up practice to start a medical device company in 1998. His business is doing very well but it requires a LOT of travel. Often he spends more time out of Minnesota than in Minnesota.

Our house was sitting empty because we couldn't get up there. The kids and I would go with Jeff on his travels because he was lonely for us and made his business travel more enjoyable.

An empty house has no soul, so I prefer to share it with other families to enjoy.

Dawn (me), currently works at Navab Brothers Oriental Rugs in St. Louis Park. I owned 2 oriental rug stores, one at International Market Square and one in Wayzata, but liquidated in 1996 when our twins were 2.

I like to manage the Beaver Bay house and clean it, getting it ready for each guest. On occasion, I am not able to get up there to take care of it, so my dear friends Greg and Sue help me out. They live in Silver Bay and know everybody in the area. They have been wonderful.

Dawn Felt purchased this house in 2002

We have always loved the feel of the North Shore. Hiking, camping, exploring, fishing on Lake Superior, Boundary Water canoe trips, etc. Jeff and I have been coming up to the North Shore since we were small children and when the opportunity to buy our lot came up, we grabbed it. We wanted our children to have the same wonderful experiences that we had as children.

This particular lot caught our eye because it is secluded, no one around us. Beautiful Lake shore, and beautiful views of the Lake. Plus we have City of Beaver Bay water and sewer. A huge benefit.

The location is perfect. Ideally located in Beaver Bay which is 50 miles north of Duluth, 40 miles south of Lutsen, 60 miles south of Grand Marais, plus 3 state parks within 10 miles of us, Gooseberry, Split Rock Lighthouse and Tettagouche. You can hike to the Superior Hiking Trail from our house.

Secluded, peaceful and serene

Beautiful spacious log home with Lake Superior stone fireplaces

I leave the grounds natural with beautiful wild flowers all growing season

Lake Shore and Beautiful Lake View

Far enough off of 61 that highway noise is almost non existent.

We had a great time during our college girls weekend! The owner was helpful and relaxed. We loved the views, listening to the waves, hiking to the point adjacent to the property, and relaxing in front of the beautiful fireplace. The place had a great energy and it felt like we were staying with friends. We are already planning on making it an annual trip. Thanks for sharing your vacation home!

Could not have asked for a more perfect weekend!

My wife and I agree - this is hands down our favorite weekend getaway. The pictures and description are honestly an understatement - we were blown away by the privacy, the luxury, and the ambiance we experienced last weekend.

Dawn was absolutely amazing to work with, and only a phone call or text message away if we needed anything or had any questions. We walked into a sparkling clean, fresh-smelling log home with freshly laundered sheets and linens, a fully equipped kitchen, and a sense of "getting away from it all" that immediately let us relax and turn our minds off from the cares and concerns of everyday life back home.

The front porch was stacked with plenty of split, dried firewood for those chilly North Shore nights, the whirlpool tub in the master suit was a perfect place to relax with a glass of wine, and the enormous deck provided a great place to enjoy the sunrise with a steaming cup of coffee in the mornings. We slept with the windows cracked at night so we could enjoy the sound of the waves lapping up on the private beach only a few yards away, and there are some huge flat boulders right on the edge of the water that make a great place to nap and work on your tan.

All in all, I could not have imagined a better place to spend a few days...and all this only 5 miles from the amazing rock climbing at Palisade Head and Shovel Point, and the delicious ice cream and coffee at the Big Dipper in Beaver Bay! We are already looking for a weekend to book our next North Shore getaway!

Magnificent home!

My family and I make several visits each year to the North Shore and this is by far the loveliest home we have had the pleasure to rent. Not only are the rooms well appointed, but the house is stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. We had 10 inches of fresh snow for our mid-April visit, but we love Lake Superior during a storm so that was great as far as we were concerned! We are hoping to be able to return again during warmer months and take advantage of the beautiful deck and explore the shoreline.

We always bring along plenty of reading material on these trips, but there are so many interesting books and cookbooks at the house, we barely touched the ones we brought ourselves.

As others before have mentioned, Dawn is absolutely terrific to work with!

If you are looking for an exceptional North Shore experience, I highly recommend you try here.

P.S. I also want to mention that we had some great food at the Lemon Wolf café in Beaver Bay!

We loved our stay at this beautiful property. The accommodations were wonderful, we loved the big fireplace and huge kitchen. Everything we needed to cook was there. We enjoyed a great day golfing at Superior National and hiking at the state parks. We had a bonfire on the beach and were stargazing. Our group of friends agreed we have to do this again! Dawn was so easy to work with to get it all arranged. I recommend it highly!

Beaver Bay is centrally located for all of the various activities you enjoy. Just 50 miles north of Duluth and 40 miles south of Lutsen. You can hike, bike, ski, fish, boat, golf, explore state parks, or just have a romantic getaway, sitting in front of a fire during the cooler months, or sitting on the deck listening to the waves crash on the shore on a warm summer night. The Superior Hiking Trail is right outside our front door. We like to hike all year round. The Beaver River and the Caribou River are personal favorites. 7 miles of the Gitchi Gami Trail are completed so far, bring your bikes or roller blades to enjoy this wonderful path. We have three gorgeous state parks just a few minutes away that offer trails of vast beauty. View the falls at Gooseberry Park, bring a picnic to enjoy after touring Split Rock Lighthouse, or hike along the Baptism River at Tettegouche.
