Our Lake Superior Retreat was built in 2003. It is a fully furnished log home in Beaver Bay Minnesota. Situated on a fairly secluded wooded 4.1 acre lot with 254 feet of lake shore. Every room has a view of Lake Superior. You will find that the warmth and coziness of the hand-hewn log interior, the openness of the vaulted wooded ceiling, the Lake Superior field stone wood burning fireplaces and the casual elegance of hand-tied oriental rugs on hardwood and ceramic tile floors through-out the whole house, will offer you a place to relax and enjoy the peace and serenity that our home has to offer during any season. It is our pleasure to share our rustic yet very elegant home with you. There is nothing else like it on Lake Superior. You will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The main floor has a large foyer with slate flooring.

The great room has a natural fieldstone wood burning fireplace and french sliding doors leading to a deck which runs the length of the house over looking the lake. A dining room and fully equipped kitchen, and a mudroom off of the kitchen. On the top floor we have the master bedroom with large glass doors leading to a deck giving you a panoramic view of the lake and master bath with a jacuzzi, as well as the loft which over looks the great room below, where our children like to sleep on aerobeds. The walk-out lower level has ceramic tile through-out, a field stone wood burning fireplace, two bedrooms, a full bath and a laundry room. There are sliding french doors leading to the brick patio under the deck. We have ceiling fans in every room, and in floor heating. We think you will enjoy staying in our home so much that you won't want to leave.

Beaver Bay is centrally located for all of the various activities you enjoy. Just 50 miles north of Duluth and 40 miles south of Lutsen. You can hike, bike, ski, fish, boat, golf, explore state parks, or just have a romantic getaway, sitting in front of a fire during the cooler months, or sitting on the deck listening to the waves crash on the shore on a warm summer night. The Superior Hiking Trail is right outside our front door. We like to hike all year round. The Beaver River and the Caribou River are personal favorites. 7 miles of the Gitchi Gami Trail are completed so far, bring your bikes or roller blades to enjoy this wonderful path. We have three gorgeous state parks just a few minutes away that offer trails of vast beauty. View the falls at Gooseberry Park, bring a picnic to enjoy after touring Split Rock Lighthouse, or hike along the Baptism River at Tettegouche.

Magnificent home!

My family and I make several visits each year to the North Shore and this is by far the loveliest home we have had the pleasure to rent. Not only are the rooms well appointed, but the house is stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. We had 10 inches of fresh snow for our mid-April visit, but we love Lake Superior during a storm so that was great as far as we were concerned! We are hoping to be able to return again during warmer months and take advantage of the beautiful deck and explore the shoreline.

We always bring along plenty of reading material on these trips, but there are so many interesting books and cookbooks at the house, we barely touched the ones we brought ourselves.

As others before have mentioned, Dawn is absolutely terrific to work with!

If you are looking for an exceptional North Shore experience, I highly recommend you try here.

P.S. I also want to mention that we had some great food at the Lemon Wolf café in Beaver Bay!

We had a wonderful winter getaway at this beautiful log home on a private lot near Cove Point Resort. The beds are very confortable and the view of the lake is spectacular. A great Kitchen made it easy to cook for 6 adults

Great getaway!

We loved our stay at this beautiful property. The accommodations were wonderful, we loved the big fireplace and huge kitchen. Everything we needed to cook was there. We enjoyed a great day golfing at Superior National and hiking at the state parks. We had a bonfire on the beach and were stargazing. Our group of friends agreed we have to do this again! Dawn was so easy to work with to get it all arranged. I recommend it highly!

Great Stay in Beaver Bay!

We fully enjoyed our stay in Beaver Bay this summer. This was the first experience with renting from HomeAway, and we could not have been more pleased. While the listing was very detailed, the actual on-site was even better than what we were anticipating. There is plenty of privacy. The house is like being in your own private lodge. The view of the lake is awesome from multiple locations; house, yard, walk down to the lake. Beaver Bay is a small town with good restaurants, gift shops and people. Duluth was only 50 miles away, and we enjoyed venturing there to do some of the tourist attractions.

Dawn was a great host, contact and support in the process of preparing for our stay. Any questions that we had were quickly answered. Prior to the stay she provided a weather update, as well as some information about grocery stores, restaurants, and other activities in the area.

It will be hard to top this experience. We highly recommend this location for a vacation get away.

Even Better Than Expected!

I was impressed with the information and photos provided on this site... and even more impressed upon arriving at this absolutely stunning home! Words just can't do it justice. Every detail is taken care of, from cushy comfy beds to soap and shampoo to books and games. We did NOT want to leave! I highly recommend it. Absolutely stunning.

The property is extremely clean and well maintained. You feel welcomed from the moment you step in the door.

Dawn is an absolute angel to work with.

The eight of us enjoyed relaxing in the living room in front of the fireplace and spending time down by the lake. The kitchen is well laid out and perfect for preparing food for a large group! We also enjoyed a day trip to Grand Marais for shopping and lunch ('My Sister's Place' was perfect for our group of gals - lots of neat things to look at while you wait for your lunch to arrive!)
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
