Single Family, Detached Loft (This Is Not A Typical Apartment!) 2 BR, 1 Bath.

Charming loft with balcony deck overlooking a secluded beach. Sweeping views of islands, ocean, West Quoddy Head, and the Lubec Channel Lighthouse. Watch the first rays of dawn in the continental US peak up over the ocean each morning. Walk across the lawn straight onto the sandy beach. Enjoy the unique experience of having the beach all to yourself on many days. The loft is located on the second floor of a detached barn. It is the only rental unit on the property with its own entrance, affording privacy. The loft features two bedrooms, one with queen bed and one with two single beds. It has a full bath and a well equipped kitchen with fridge, Jenn-Air range, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, and plenty of dishes and cooking equipment. The living/dining area offers comfortable furniture and a balcony with spectacular views. 2 TVs, DVD, Broadband WiFi Internet, free long distance phone. All bed & bath linens are provided. Washer & dryer available. No smoking indoors

Lubec is home to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, situated at the easternmost point of land in the U.S. In Lubec you will find sandy beaches (a rarity this far Down East), bold coastal cliffs, coastal rain forest, wildflower meadows, and peat bogs. The Lubec area is host to three state parks, a national wildlife refuge, and several nature preserves, all of which offer a variety of well maintained hiking trails. Local whale, wildlife, and puffin tours offer the chance to observe nature up close from the water as do kayak and canoe rental facilities and many public boat ramps. The area is rich in history the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War was fought in nearby Machiasport. Maine's own 'Cannery Row' lined the waterfronts of Lubec and Eastport with sardine canning factories and herring smoke houses. You'll find it all here rich history, spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and friendly people. You won't find pollution, crowds, or traffic jams.

    Reservations & Payments:
    One half rent due to place reservation. Remaining rent, tax, and $300 refundable damage deposit due 6 weeks in advance of stay. Damage deposit is returned promptly after your stay.
  • Travelers with pets:
    *If your party will include pets, please add $50 per pet, per week to the basic rental fee.
    If your party will include pets, please add $50 per pet, per week to the refundable damage deposit.
    Prior approval required for all pets.

First Light Loft....LOVED IT!!!

Annually my mother,sister and I enjoy a week long vacation just the three of us girls. This year we chose Lubec Maine and I found the First Light Loft it was a wonderful place to stay only foot steps away from the beach. The views were beautiful as well.
We did not find a lot of "tourist" attractions in Lubec, BUT we weren't looking for any! Quoddy Head is not far down the road and there were some nice walking trails there.
The loft had everything you could need for weekend or week long stay; the only thing we had to bring was food!
I plan on going back!!!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at First Light. The loft was clean and cozy with all the comforts of home. The view is spectacular, especially sunrise. We plan to return again.

Wonderful Views with all the Comforts of Home

Young's by the Sea is wonderful! My husband and I have rented Young's for the last six summers while I have been attending the music workshop at SummerKeys (I'm a cellist!) We hope to return to Young's for a long time to come!

The kitchen is well-equipped; we both love to cook meals there. You can hear the sound of the waves at night and see all the stars in the sky from the deck. Our dog loves to take walks on the beach as do we. I can't say enough about this wonderful, charming oasis by the sea.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

My favorite beach.

I have spent hours just sitting on the deck watching the sunrise, watching the tide come in and out, and all the time listening to the sound of the sea. Every morning and evening I walk the beach and just enjoy the beauty and the solitude. The apartment offers everything that is necessary to make yourself comfortable and just relax and enjoy. I have cooked dinners, baked cakes, and entertained friends in the weeks that I have spent there. It is my first choice if I have time to get away.
