Appartamento Carlotta is situated in the heart of Tremezzo on the Western shores of Lake Como, better known as the Azalea Riveria. The apartment forms part of a 250 year old building which was originally the former Inn of Tremezzo built in the heart of the town. A short stairway from the apartment leads you directly to the lakeside promenade perfectly positioned to enjoy the best features of Lake Como. Restaurants, bars and all local amenities are within steps as is a ferry point that takes you to all parts of the lake. Tremezzo is famous for Lake Como’s most exquisite landmark “Villa Carlotta”. Within a 5 minute walk from the apartment Villa Carlotta is a museum and art gallery occupying 14 acres of landscaped gardens and commands spectacular views of the lake. Tremezzo, due to its location on the Western shore captures the longest hours of sunshine during the day and remains as one of the international elites favourite holiday destinations.

Nestled on the sunny Western shore Tremezzo is one of Lake Como's main destinations. The gardens and art treasures of Villa Carlotta are within a 5 minute walk. Be sure to take a spring trip to see the spectacular display of Azaleas or listen to the outdoor concerts in Summer!! The local mountains offer easy panoramic walks and viewpoints especially the views offered from San Martino. Take the ferry to Bellagio for a splendid lunch and breathtaking views of both sides of the lake,Varenna for a visit to Villa Monastero and beyond to explore all the treasures the central lake region has to offer.   • RENTAL PERIODS:
    Rentals run from Saturday to Saturday, the apartment is available for occupation from 14.00 on day of arrival and is to be vacated by 11.00 on day of departure.
    Weekend rentals may be available at selected times. There is normally a minimum 3 night stay.
  • INCLUDED IN THE PRICE:
    Rental rates include heating, electricity towels and bed linen.
    Final cleaning bill is included in the cost of the rental. For stays of more than one week cleaning and linen changes occur on the Saturday.
  • MAKING PAYMENT:
    On booking 50% is payable as confirmation, balance due one month before arrival.
    There is a secuirty deposit of £100 payable with balance and returnable upon satisfactory inspection of the property. We accept payment in GBP Sterling and Euros.

Notes: The apartment occupies the first floor of a carefully renovated original village Inn dating from the middle of 1700. The building houses 4 apartments and the original wine cellar. Each room faces the lake and has large double glazed windows with green shutters. The double bedroom houses a kingsize and single bed to comfortably sleep 3. The sofa bed in the lounge provides additional sleeping. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your culinary needs and the fridge freezer allows ample space for chilling those glorious wines available from the specialist wine cellar downstairs from the apartment. The modern bathroom comprises shower, toilet, bidet, wash basin and heated towel rail. The bathroom also allows ample space to house the washing machine. Audio and visual entertainment is provided in the dining area from a wall mounted LCD TV and multi region DVD player, CD player and Radio. Satelite Tv is provided with international channels in original language.

We had a lovely relaxing week in Tremzzo staying in this apartment. The standard of cleanliness is the highest of any apartment I have stayed in. One of the nicest things about it is that there are so many little things there for the use of the occupant like olive oil, salt and pepper etc. Many apartment owners do provide the bare basics but Cheryl seems to have given a lot of thought to the items that are really useful to have when making meals but that you don't want to have to buy when you are on holiday. This isn't the place to stay if you want to have an early night every night because of the wine bar in the cellar downstairs. But I have to say that it didn't bother us at all. There was no rowdiness or loud music, just the sound of lots of people chatting and enjoying themselves. And as the bar closed at 11.30 it didn't go on too late either.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful it was a delight to stay in Tremezzo. Although we did travel to other places around the lake we were quite happy just pottering about locally. We had hoped for a restful week and that is exactly what we received. Bar Red and White and Bar Helvetia are both highly recommended. The food in both is superb as is the service. By the end of the week we felt like old friends of Alessandro in Bar Red and White and Lorenzo and Alex in Helvetia.
A ferry ride up the lake to Gravedona is highly recommended for the breathtaking scenery. Gravedona itself is pretty but the best part of the outing is the journey. Bellagio is a must for shopping. The jewellery, silk and leather are all stunning.
We will certainly be returning to Tremezzo and we will certainly come back to this apartment if there are only two of us. Although there is a bed settee I would feel overcrowded with any more than two. You need to be reasonably fit to cope with all the steps and stairs but in spite of that I would highly recommend this apartment to any couple looking for a quiet restful holiday.

A good base from which to explore Lake Como

The description of the property was accurate and it was very clean. The kitchen was especially well appointed with lots of useful equipment meaning that cooking was very easy. There was also quite a bit of food (which we didn't really use but could have) which would save buying bits and pieces like herbs and oil.

The owner, Cheryl, came to collect the money and was really friendly and helpful. She lives nearby and so is on hand if there are any problems. She was very keen that we enjoy our stay and provided a very useful information pack along with local guide books etc. She also gave local restaurant advice!

We liked the Bar Red and White where the food was good and the service really good - Alessandro was really friendly and welcoming. Also Bar Helvetia next door gave good service and the food was really good. Not so keen on El Timon where the pizzas were ok but apart from that best to be avoided.

The village of Tremezzo was a bit too small for our liking - with only a few shops and restaurants and right next to the lakeside road. It is, however, a very pretty location and is a very good place from which to catch buses and boats to other locations. We really liked Lenno's lakeside restaurants and the Villa Balbinello was breathtaking. If you want a bit of life (shops etc!) then Bellagio was very pretty along with the smaller Varenna. Both are very easy to reach by boat from Tremezzo.

There was a bit of a problem with ants on a couple of days, the television only receives Italian channels (if this is a problem then take some good dvds) and there was a slight smell of damp sometimes when we returned to the flat after a day out. This could have been due to the rainy weather and the proximity to the lake. We put the central heating on to dry things out a bit when necessary. There are quite a few steps up to the apartment from street level (although there is a longer route round using a slope) which I think could make this unsuitable for those with very young children.

Finally, we really enjoyed our stay in the Apartment Carlotta even though we didn't have the best of weather. The locals are really friendly and there's plenty to see and do.
