This is a perfect home for a longer vacation. Why stay in a hotel when you can stay in a nice private home for less? Our house is on the western edge of Ajijic, just a 15 minute walk to town.
Casa Fred is almost 1200 square feet with two full bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, a walk-in closet, shower, and a tub. It is light and bright with many windows and a patio door that opens a covered patio and a private back yard. An electronic gate opens to four homes with secure parking.

It was built in 2003 and has a view of the nearby mountains.
A walk to Ajijic's main shops on Colon takes about 15 minutes. There are at least 10 restaurants within walking distance, as well as many small shops and stores. Very inexpensive bus service is also just steps away for those who choose not to have a car.
The town of Ajijic is about 500 years old with narrow cobblestone streets. It is located on the north shore of Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest natural lake. The Lake Chapala weather is semi-tropical and rated as one of the best in the world. It also hosts the largest number of US and Canadian ex-pats in the world. It is difficult to walk down the street without visiting with someone. It is town to fall in love with--we did.
The main shopping area in Ajijic has unique art galleries, antique shops, custom clothing, sewing, and even second-hand stores to find valuable treasures. The local outdoor market operates every Wednesday. Here you can find fresh fruit and vegetables, jewelry, clothes, CDs, DVDs, etc.
Don't be fooled by low teaser rental rates. Our rate includes EVERYTHING: ALL utilities, maid, gardener, trash service, telephone, gas, DSL/wireless Internet, taxes, association fees, professional property management, AND Shaw Direct Satellite TV. These additional charges can add $200-300 USD a month to your rent!
After a hard day's work of golfing, hiking, shopping, or at the spa/bathhouse, what could be better than relaxing with a margarita (or a coke) on your own private patio in Ajijic.

My wife and I had a wonderful 2 week stay in Casa Fred. Our hosts Chad and Toni were very helpful in every way. We fell in love with the Casa and the area in general.
During our stay we had friends over for a cookout on the back patio. They were impressed with the Casa and the value it gives. We would certainly recommend for others to stay in the home. It was close to restaurants and shops. We wished we lived there!
I fled from an eternal winter in Minnesota to the promise of perfect weather in Ajjijic, and that is just what I found! My stay at Casa Tom only enhanced this magical six week escape. It is charming, fully equipped, spic and span, very secure, and just a delightful living experience. I brought my small dog, who loved the walled back yard. Toni and Chad are wonderful hosts. Always there to help, and so respectful of their tenants' personal space.
The walk into El Centro is quick and convenient (wear sturdy shoes - the cobblestones can be challenging!). There are very reliable taxis for trips to Walmart and beyond. The bus system is also something to take advantage of. It will get you all around lakeside for a very small price.
I LOVED Ajijic. I will return when I can. I highly recommend this most reasonably priced and wonderfully accommodating casa to enhance your stay.
My partner & I stayed in Casa Fred for two months and couldn't have been more pleased. The home is clean and comfortable with well-appointed kitchen and bathroom. Very private. The master bed is extremely comfortable. Lots of closet/storage space, work desk, gorgeous living area and stunning custom-made dining table. A second bedroom allowed us to have guests during our stay. It's a really gorgeous home, the photos accurately reflect the home but it's even better l in person. Beautiful and clean kitchen, washer/dryer, lovely light, perfect private patio and back yard - this was a haven for my partner and I during our stay in Ajijic. We didn't want to leave!
Internet access was the best we've had in Mexico (better than what we had back in the states). It was very peaceful and quiet so we were able to get a lot of work/writing done while here.
The bike path is just outside the entrance gate so bring your bicycles or running shoes! You can walk on the path to get in to downtown in less than 15 minutes. Buses run every 1/2 hour to Chapala and Jocotopec, all day, every day. We often took long walks on the surrounding neighborhood's cobblestone streets, where colorful homes and flowering vines abound.
There are a handful of great restaurants within walking distance - the Waffle House serves great breakfasts and an Italian restaurant to the west which makes their own pasta and a garlic flatbread to die for (there are other restaurants in between too). The organic food market is on Tuesday mornings at the La Huerta complex (just west of the Italian restaurant) - great honeys, sprouts, vegies, mesclun, tomatoes, etc. Also a Friday market there has ready-made foods and crafts. Wednesdays market east of Ajijic is great too, however Chapala's Monday food markets have more variety for a cheaper price. All the markets are worth visiting. Round out your basic food and condiment needs by visiting the mini-super just a short walk west of the home (also in the same mall is a hair salon, a taqueria and a seafood market).
Last but not least, hosts Chad and Toni are simply fabulous people. We were so impressed by them. They made us feel welcome and at ease from the moment walked through the door. They made sure we had everything we needed, including contacts in case of an emergency and they were very responsive throughout our stay.
We HIGHLY recommend this home. You're getting a fabulous deal.
