All this and only a very short walk to the funicular linking in 7 minutes to the Paradiski resorts at Les Arcs - one of the largest and most varied ski areas in Europe and a mountain bikers and walkers heaven in the summer.
A comfy apartment, conveniently located for the funicular and local amenities. The apartment was adequately equipped with a good supply of DVDs to watch.
We had a great time staying in the apartment, it was our first time in Bourg. We got the train there and it couldn't have been easier. 10 minutes walk from the train station was the apartment and then a 5 minute walk everyday to the funicular to go up the mountain.
We would also recommend the Skicase lockers at the top of the funicular (opposite the Month Blanc lift under the apartments). It was very reasonable and enabled us to leave our ski boots, skis etc. in the lockers overnight on headed boot warmers and then our walking boots in there during the day. Saves carrying everything to and fro. Also leaves you free wander around Bourg when you get back down the mountain.
Bourg is great as it is much more reasonable, with a wide range of shops and restaurants.
The apartment itself is perfect for 2 people and has a comfy sofa bed in the lounge and even more comfortable bed.
Julia was really helpful and available at the end of the phone for any problems.
A compact but lovely aartment sutuated close to teh funicular and all the amenities of Bourg. Modern facilities and comfortable. An excellent value for money apartment.
This is a lovely, well equipped, clean, comfortable apartment in a great location. Great communication with owners and everything was as described. The pool was a welcome bonus. We would have no hesitation in returning ourselves and hope to in the future. We would highly recommend to others. We used the apartment as our base for walking in the nearby resorts.
My stay in Bourg was excellent and I would highly recommend this accommodation to all. The apartment is very practical and well furnished (I mostly ate 'in'). It's also ideally located in regard to the shops.
Bourg it self is an incredible location. In the summer there are many activities to keep one busy and its a charming town to roam. I also believe its perfect in the winter (linked to Les Arcs...)
For a couple or 3 of you this is a good base for the resorts all around the valley. We did Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plange and St Foy all within easy reach. Lovely and clean and tidy plenty of parking space and no noise. All the amenities on the doorstep.
Apartments are situated in an attractive complex located just a few minutes walk into the centre of Bourg, a traditional French town with attractive architecture and a wealth of restaurants, shops and markets open all year round plus a cinema and museum. The town enjoys a number of festivals such as the annual Edelweiss Festival with traditional music, dancing, food and wine and there are plenty of artisan and local craft sales . It is an ideal base from which to explore the stunning scenery of the Tarentaise Valley, Paradiski area and the Vanoise National Park with easy access in all directions and without having to negotiate winding roads down from the mountain resorts every time you want to visit a new place!
It is about 500m from the funicular railway - a 7 minutes ride to Arc 1600 running every 20 minutes from 7.30am – 8 or 9pm daily, giving access to a superb variety of high altitude resorts : Les Arcs (1600, 1800, 1950 and 2000), Val d'Isere, Tignes and La Plagne. You can even hire equipment at the bottom of the funicular and store it, or even store your own equipment at the same shop, for the duration of your stay for a very easy life! There is also a free shuttle from Bourg to La Rosière with superb off-piste possibilities.
Les Arcs ski area is one of the world's largest with one of the biggest verticals and has an excellent variety of terrain which includes glacier skiing, wooded slopes at Arc 1600 and above tree-line wide open slopes at 1800 and 2000. It caters for all levels of skier with 'Ski tranquilly' nursery-slopes cordoned off for beginners and families so that you can ski in complete safety, extensive intermediate slopes with big lift networks and excellent off-piste terrain for experts as well as five snowparks, three boarder cross courses and a half-pipe to enjoy.
Other winter activities available: paragliding, snow shoeing, horse riding, ski (being towed behind a horse on your skis), snowmobiling, ice climbing and, up at Arc 2000, quad biking on snow. At La Plagne, the bobsleigh run built for the Albertville Winter Olympics still allows you to ride down in a proper bobsleigh behind a professional driver, or a self-steering raft which you can ride with friends at a slightly slower pace!
A myriad of summer activities can be enjoyed: Excellent cycling with many of the classic Tour de France climbs nearby with spectacular views. Also: kayaking, rock climbing, swimming, paragliding, hiking and gentle walking all locally. The Isère runs right through the town with a variety of white-water opportunities suitable for all levels and even a complete wuss like me can enjoy the thrill and exhilaration of whitewater rafting. In Bourg itself there is a whitewater slalom course river used for international canoe and kayak competitions. It has been host to the ICF world championships and is used by many European teams as a training course in the summer.
If you prefer water activities to be more tranquil then nearby there is a pretty lake with beaches to enjoy (can personally recommend this to families with young children) and there is even a restaurant on site. The river itself is flanked by a 10 mile tree covered cycling and walking path. Local fishing is reportedly excellent.
Facilities for mountain biking are simply fantastic. The lifts operate all summer and every lift has at least one technical route running down from it. The trails are superb and varied with demanding descents due to the huge drop in altitude. Bourg itself has a skate park, dirt jumps in the forest and even a lake jump – plus still has bike shops for spares!
Surrounded by the gorgeous Tarentaise valley with a wealth of villages to visit and mountain scenery to enjoy, you may not wish to travel far! However you can easily visit historical Annecy with its beautiful lake only 1 ½ hours drive, or about the same distance to elegant Aix-le-Bains and Chambery. Lyon is just over 2 hours away.
