Charming old farmhouse, with 4 working fireplaces, on top of a hill with a view across Cape Cod Bay to Provincetown. The house is comfortably furnished with antiques & filled with art. The kitchen is well-equipped. Lovely sunsets over the water can be seen from the patio in front of the house. The house, built in 1835, was formerly located next to the oldest lighthouse on Cape Cod in North Truro. It used to be an Inn in the 1850's, Henry David Thoreau was a guest. A private deck on the back overlooks a landscaped garden and the National Seashore woods. Behind some trees, we have a 14 ft trampoline with a safety net. There is a basement apartment with a separate entrance occupied by our very quiet caretaker. Located in South Truro on the Old County Road, you will find this house to be in one of the most beautiful and serene neighborhoods on the Cape.

Nearest Beach: beach at 1 Miles
Fisher Beach and Truro Harbor, on the bay, are both about a mile away. Ballston Beach, ocean side, is about 2 miles. The Pamet River offers boating and fishing. The National Seashore has miles of bike trails and beaches, along with bird watching and nature activities. Truro has free concerts on Thursday evenings on the village green, which is right down the road. Halfway between Wellfleet and Provincetown, you'll find wonderful galleries, restaurants, shopping and whale watching.

It's a wonderful old house and we loved it! I had been a little worried that antique furniture may be a little formal and not be that comfortable, but we were very comfortable! The breakfast nook is bigger than the one shown in the current photo (7/22/08), and we ate there or outside on the deck (which has a nice table and umbrella and a gas grill) every day. The kitchen is well appointed. We enjoyed our time at home as much as our time at the beach, and hope to return next year. The owner was so helpful in answering our questions. We felt very welcome. The trampoline was a huge hit with the kids! I didn't think they'd love it for all 7 days, but they did.
