Photos and Description of the Anoye vacation rental 4 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom/ bath & shower/double wash-basins, sleeps 8

Come and stay at 'Pachicot', named after the original owner who built it in 1773. Although it has been restored it has kept its authenticity: original terracotta tiles, wooden beams, huge walk-in fireplace etc. It is the ideal peaceful getaway. The house is surrounded by fields and forest. Awake to the chant of birds, lie by the pool, go for long walks or cycle on the many surrounding trails with a view on the Pyrenees. Anoye is on the Santiago de Compostella trails. Each season is special: in autumn trees are golden. Go looking for chestnuts, berries or mushrooms. The weather is still warm till November. In winter go skiing for the day. Christmas is magical here with the fire burning and the atmosphere. In Spring the wild flowers bloom and nature comes to life again. In summer it can get hot but swim in the pool (10 x 5), or sit under our centennial oak, or nap in the house where thick walls keep the heat out. Come with family or friends, for a holiday to remember.

Holiday at Pachicot

Liz & Co Warwickshire
Review Submitted: September 4, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Just to thank Laurence for yet another wonderful holiday at "Pachicot". We had our first holiday here last year and could not wait to return this year. We have been holidaying in France for years and this is the 1st proprety we were desperate to book again, and hope to do so again next year! We are a party of 8 and the house easily accommodates us all. As soon as you arrive at "Pachicot" you are instantly relaxed. Whislt the kids play in the pool, the adults have chance to relax and catch up with plenty of reading!
The house is very well equiped and for those like us who enjoy cooking, the kitchen will cater for all your needs.
"Pachicot" is perfectly situated for easy access to the Pyrenees for those who like to mountain bike or hike, and its not to far to travel for a day at the beach.
An evening out in Pau is brilliant as there are plenty of excellent restaurants. In August, Pau has a festival which makes for a good night out with plenty of live music entertainment.
I would recommend anyone who is planning to travel to this area of France to stay at "Pachicot". Laurence is very helpful with all your queries and Jean-Pierre is on hand throughout your stay to help with any problems you may have. A chilled bottled of Champagne is there on your arrival and will help kick start any holiday!!
Owner's Response: We hope to have you stay at Pachicot again next year. The champagne will be chilled and waiting!

Thanks for a great week at 'Pachicot'. Everything we could have wanted was there for us, the pool and the house were both cleaned brilliantly before we arrived, and Jean-Pierre was unbelievably friendly and welcoming!

A great property in a great location, which made it very easy to unwind and enjoy the local area. Thanks very much.

Spent two wonderful weeks

Review Submitted: July 29, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We spent 2 weeks in July at Pachicot and loved it.

We came to cycle, to hike in the Pyrennes and to relax at the pool. It worked out fine. In 45m hour your in Pau or in Lourdes, 1,5h in the high mountains to hike.

The house it self is nicely equiped, we had everything to cook large meals or to barbecue at the pool.
We didn't miss anything and had no problems at all.

For dinner outside you will have to go to the bigger town, best selection we found at Pau.

Anoye is really on the county, so you absolutely need a car. The next baker is 8 km away. Super markets and local markets a bit further.

Pierre, the caretaker of the house is a very nice guy and very helpful.

All in all: a place to recommend

A Pyrenees Hideaway

Review Submitted: April 13, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
Laurence, a short but heartfelt thank you for a wonderful time spent at Patchicott last autumn. The house has a unique character and feels like a real home situated reclusively up a small lane in the delightful village of Anoye. Yet its age lends it a tangible romance for us history buffs. The spacious lounge and open fire were a welcome respite after long enjoyable days roaming the region. But we fell in love with the kitchen and if the Pyrenees were not so stunning to hike in we would have spent all our time there! And thank you also for such a well-equiped and stocked kitchen (including the welcoming bottle of champaign & our favourite cold beer!). Although frequent visitors to France, we found Anoye and the surrounding countryside authentically French without any `touristy' overtones and it was a delight to explore the surrounds, sampling the local cuisine, the sights and attempting to talk to the locals (not easy with our minimum French - though they were always tolerant and bemused). We found Pachicot to be well located in relation to our day to day needs (supermarkets, restaurants etc) as well as for hiking in the Pyrenees. Its proximity to Pau was terrific for its art gallery, markets, restaurants etc and for simply strolling around and taking in the stunning views of the Pyrenees. We would highly recommend Pachicot to anyone wanting to experience that region of France or just wants a respite in a rural setting from the hurly-burly of modern life.

I've been away from my computer since we got back from France, hence the delay in letting you know how much we all enjoyed our stay in your beautiful, welcoming house. We loved the cool darkness inside, the wonderful swimming pool and the tranquility of the setting. We had a great time exploring round about; we met up with some sailing friends in St Jean de Luz, visited Pau and went up into the Pyrenees beyond Laruns (we took the telecabine and the chairlift near the Artoust train).
It was a brilliant holiday, and Pachicot was the best gite we have ever stayed in!
