Las casitas bonitas, part of an idyllic beach front retreat, is located in the Costa Azul area in the beautiful and friendly village of San Francisco (San Pancho) nestled between the Sierra Madre and the Pacific. Just 25 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, this upgraded property consits of two separate units with 2 bedrooms, 2 bath houses and another unit with 1 bedroom, 1 bath. All casitas are fully equipped and tastefully decorated with antiquities from around the world.
In the upper unit, Casa Tranquila, a spacious living/dining room with 14 foot ceilings opens up onto the terrace with a negative edge plunge pool overlooking the ocean and pristine beach. Enjoy sunsets year round, relax, have a massage on the terrace or have a private chef come prepare a traditional meal for you and your guests.
The middle one bedroom unit, Casa Lolita, has a small plunge pool, incredible views to the beach and a large gringo tree growing in the middle of the bathroom. It's a perfect retreat for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.
The lower beach house, Casa Amorita, has the largest pool and an upstairs bedroom that opens up to the beach beyond. This house is literally on the beach.
The breathtaking beach at your backdoor is never crowded (almost deserted) and free of annoying vendors. One of the best restaurants in town, Mar Plata, is just across the street. In the pueblo of San Pancho, which is about a 10-15 minute stroll away, you can experience the quaint charm of Mexico, including excellent places to eat, taco stands, artisans, and interesting shops.
Las Casitas Bonitas is exactly what the name implies, a beautiful retreat where the leisurely pace of life can be fully enjoyed. This property was featured in Costal Living Magazine December 07 which speaks for itself. For more information, please contact us directly. I spent many months in Mexico growing up sailing with my family. I've always loved the country and people. My partner Bob and I decided to invest when the opportunity arose. He now lives in LA directing live television, and rarely goes. Maybe too much sand and that long 2 hour commute! I on the other hand live in NY, and go any chance I can. Bob is holding Kassi, who is known in the town more than either of us. If she's not at home, she can usually be found at one of the local restaurants enjoying a weiney martini. They actually stock hot dogs for her when she's in town.
Pat Lloyd purchased this house in 2002
Just look at our back yard! The houses aren't too shaby either.
Pilar, our housekeeper/cook. To me, she outshines the incredible views and tasteful accomodations. Nobody on Earth can make you smile like she does. I give her more credit for our success than myself for building and developing this unique space.
Just wanted to let you know that we had an incredible time at your place in Mexico. It was spectacular!! Everything was perfect and we would love to go back again next year. Our talks of returning at the same time next year were the only way we could motivate ourselves to walk out the door and catch our flights. Otherwise I think we would still be there, fighting with your next guests over squatter's rights....We loved it that much!. I just close my eyes now and think about the wonderful beach and sunsets. And watching the surf was just mesmerizing for me. The last couple of nights we spent the evenings on the beach, letting the kids play and watching the sun set. It was the best... And in the mornings we would take long walks up and down the beach and watch the day begin...That's the life...
It's hard for me to believe that just a week ago we were enjoying your beautiful San Pancho home and now I am sitting in my cubicle at Wells Fargo writing marketing material for mutual funds...I want to go back! I'm so glad that Mia and I did so much research to find the perfect place. It paid off!
Thanks again for everything,
This property is a pure escape to luxury , the accommodations are fabulous and every level has an amazing swimming pool. I am always suspicious of properties when I book them as they never live up to the photos- let me tell you these photos do not do the property justice ITS SPECTACULAR located right on the ocean.
I have been to a lot of beautiful, relaxing, stunning places. Not only is the town quaint, relaxing and beautiful, but the property of this compound is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Like a total "peace" of Heaven! This is a place you want to go when you want to escape reality. The top house has an infinity pool that you could lay in and stare at the ocean for hours upon hours, the middle house is a total hidden gem, and the bathroom in there is the craziest bathroom I have ever seen. Very well designed! And the bottom houses are magnificent. They have the perfect pool to lounge in all day, with the help of Pilar, she will cook you any meal of the day, and the food is MMmmmmMMMmm GOOD!! I couldn't recommend this place enough, seriously! You will not regret this booking!
There were many great things about our stay at Las Casas Bonitas. We rented all 3 houses for a week for 2 families. They are charming and provide a completely different experience as you really feel close to nature with the open-air kitchens and bathrooms and the abundance of nature around including frogs, lizards, scorpions and mosquitos.
Pilar is a complete god-send and really adds to the authentic experience. Her cooking was wonderful and she was completely flexible, fitting into our plans as we required.
Saying this, I would not stay here again, for the following reasons:
1) There is an empty block next door and as there are no fences, our children were happily running and playing there until we discovered a deep open well (about 30ft) with festy water at the bottom of it. As it was only 1 brick height off ground level we thank our lucky stars than none of our children fell down it!
2) The resort next door is closed down and basically just in ruins so no sharing of amenities.
3) The beach is beautiful and free of hawkers and people but this is basically because it's unsafe. We are all good swimmers, coming from Australia and are used to the surf but these were really strong shore dumpers - not just up the northern end but the whole way down the beach so we could not allow the younger children to swim there and instead had to go to Sayulita to swim.
4) The internet only works in Amorita
5) We had several power and air-conditioning issues and although Allison, the Manager, was very helpful and had the problems seen to, it was frustrating.
6) The oven in Amorita was used as storage for plastic containers etc so every time we went to cook something we either had to take it all out or instead run up and use one of the other ovens.
7) There never seemed to be any hot water.
We did only stay here for a week and so despite the frustrations it was a memorable experience but I am glad it was not for a longer period of time. No doubt would suit some people perfectly as it is inexpensive and provides a unique rustic experience but I would not recommend it to families with children for safety reasons.
Our family of 5 stayed in Casa Tranquilla. We had such a great time. The house is beautiful and the beach is spectacular! Most days were spent playing in the waves, boogie boarding and body surfing...we went zip lining, and the kids loved it! Pilar made us a great dinner and her brother took my son and I out fishing for a morning.
San Pancho is a great little town. So far, it does not have nearly the bustle of Sayulita, which was perfect for us! Plenty of shops/vendors, ans some great places to eat.
Or only complaints were the dresser drawers needed a deep cleaning, and Costa Azul, the next door resort, had been shut down a while ago and was pretty run down. The website for this rental still boasts the resort next door and the opportunity to utilize some of their services, which we had hoped to do.
All in all, we had a great time and will most likely try to get back in the future!
This is definitely a beautiful place, and has been one of our favorites until our last visit. From the first time we visited until the second visit, the maintenance had slipped considerably. Lights were out or broken, rust had settled in, there were so many bugs in the light shades that if you bumped it they fell out everywhere. We felt bad that one of our favorite places was no longer our favorite. Sadly, we will look for another place to stay next time. We contacted the owner and told him about our stay, but he did not seem responsive to our feedback which was given hoping that changes would be made.
This is our 5th stay at this incredible property and each time it is better than the time before. The location is perfect with your own private beach and just minutes from the quaint town of San Pancho to enjoy fabulous meals, music and shopping. We spent lots of time basking by the pool, cervesa and kindle in hand. We had takeout from Cafe Del Mar (5 star) and watched the sun set on the beach. This year we enjoyed a delicious meal and polo match at the Patron Polo Club. We went fishing with Elme,-Y-Knot Charters, in Punta Mita and after catching Dorado and sail fish, then dining at Margarita's where they prepared our Dorado 10 yummy different ways. Lots of leftovers to enjoy the rest of the week. We also spent a day hiking and eating pies in Yelapa (a must do). Jeff, as always, is wonderful to work with and Pilar does an outstanding job keeping the casitas tidy and clean. December the weather is absolutely perfect, not too hot during the day and comfortable in the evening. This is Paradise and we will be back!!!! Thank you Jeff for your sharing your place again with Montanans and for your exceptional generosity.
