Old Brewery Cottage is a semi-detached cottage in the village of Melkridge, two miles from Haltwhistle. The cottage has a double and a king-size double, and a family bathroom. Downstairs is a kitchen with dining area, and a sitting room with electric fire. Outside is ample off road parking, and a private patio area with furniture. Old Brewery Cottage is a wonderful base for exploring Hadrian's Wall, Hexham, and Kielder Water or heading further afield to Alnwick and the Heritage coast.
The small market town of Haltwhistle is a vibrant place, offering a wide range of shops and other amenities. Home to The Black Bull – an old fashioned pub, serving quality food and real ale – the village is a welcoming place to return to following a day of walking, pony trekking or cycling. With the Pennine Way and other great cycle routes and bridleways nearby, it's easy to enjoy this stunning scenery, which boasts dramatic castles, surging rivers and beautiful forests. Those interested in the country's history are sure to enjoy a visit to one of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian's Wall, only a mile north of the village, and with an ongoing dig on the site of Vindolanda, it's easy to get in touch with the nation's past. There is also a regular train and bus service to Newcastle and Carlisle.
