Barn Cottage is a very welcoming semi-detached barn conversion, in the village of Hinderwell. There is a double, a twin and a single, plus a family bathroom on the first floor. Downstairs is a kitchen, sitting room with dining area and a large conservatory with door to the rear patio, which has furniture. There is off road parking outside the cottage. Barn Cottage is close to the village amenities, and makes a great family base for exploring the moors and coast.
Hinderwell is a small, lively village close to the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay. Hinderwell was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Hildrewell, a derivation of Hilda’s Well, named for the Abbess of Whitby who was travelling through the parish in a drought and was asked to intercede. Her prayers were answered when a spring appeared near the sight of the present Parish Church, and this spring has continued to flow from the hillside to this day. The village is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful countryside, and walks, cycle ways, gliding, horse riding and fishing are all well catered for in the area. Whitby is seven miles away and the town has a rich and varied heritage waiting to be discovered. This is a fabulous holiday base.
