This lovely rural settlement is often host to a flock of wandering moorland sheep who roam the nearby hillsides and riverbanks. This same, stunning scenery provides a range of excellent walking and cycling routes in all directions. The quaint fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay are certainly worth visiting, whether you walk or drive. The wonderful beaches at Sandsend and the ancient port of Whitby are also within easy traveling distance, and offer traditional seaside attractions.
